Half of GoT Twincest Duo is Interviewed re Her Role as Cersei Lannister

Some members of the cast of GOT are commenting on their roles.  The first is the sister half of the 'twincest' duo - Cersei & Jaime Lannister...

July 10, 2010 >Lena Headey has been the more silent of the two Lannister twins, with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talking about Game of Thrones on a couple of occasions. But recently an Imagine Me & You fan site had the opportunity to do a Q&A with Lena and she answered a few Thrones questions. Below are the Thrones questions, be sure to hit up the whole interview to hear her thoughts on motherhood and obsessive fans.

How is life over in the UK? Are you ready to go back to work on “Game of Thrones”?

Life back in the uk is er …. ok, but i love Los Angeles dammit, there i said it… though its good to be near great friends. I am excited and nervous about going back to work, very ready and not ready one bit.

Have you read the novels that the series is based on and what drew you to the role of “Cersei”?

No and she’s a curious woman, a hard shell but inside i believe there is deep paranoia and a growing madness.

You are working once again with Peter Dinklage on GoT. What memories do you have of working with him on “Ultra”?

We giggled ALOT, mostly at a cat driving a car, i’ll let him explain that one. i am very happy to be working with him again, he is playing a great character and i hope we get some story lines together.

Is there anything you can relate to with the character you play in the Games of Thrones?

God no… apart from being a mum now, i am excited about bringing a whole new experience to my work.

Aside from Games of Thrones, are they any other projects that we can look forward to?

i haven’t worked in so long. i seemed to be offered alot of work when i was pregnant.. obviously i was unable to do any of it.

Describe your character in “Game of Thrones” in 5 words or less.

smart , insecure, ferociously maternal, cutthroat, paranoid.

Would love to know how you are approaching the role of Cersei for Game of Thrones seeing as it’s pretty much the first time you’ve been cast in a “villainous” role. Are you looking forward to playing someone the audience will hopefully love to hate?

I am so looking forward to be a villain for once … i am usually cast as the good moral person.. i shall indulge my imagination in this role.. and just about resist the urge to be ULTRA villainous.

What kind of reseach did you do for your role in Game of Thrones? Have you met George R. R. Martin to discuss your interpretation of the role of Cersei?

I met George though we didn’t discuss,he was enjoying a lovely pint or two in scotland with the rest of the cast, i was pregnant…. i think he trusts us to do him proud.

Winter Is Coming Comment: Well despite not reading the books, I would say her description of Cersei is spot-on. I have faith that Lena is going to do a fantastic job as Cersei. I can’t wait to see her, especially in her scenes with Peter Dinklage. And Nikolaj. Hell, the whole Lannister clan is going to be great.<

From the same website--Costume Designer: >-It seems that a costume designer has been selected, Michele Clapton. She is a BAFTA award winning designer, having won for her work on The Devil’s Whore. She has also worked on other TV productions, including the recent BBC Sense & Sensibility adaptation. Here is a glimpse of her work on that project.<

Remarks about his role as Cersei's extremely close sibling:
>In a recent interview with Danish television news site TvTid, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talked about, among other things, the Game of Thrones pilot (original Danish version). More specifically, he spoke of working with Lena Headey, riding a horse and, of course, his nose.

How was it to work closely with an international star like Lena Headey?

- It was a really good experience. She is super sweet and talented – and she’s very fun. She was also pregnant during filming, but not so far along that you could see it clearly. Yet she was forced to have a stand-in in a nude scene with me.

A nude scene? Don’t you play brother and sister?

- Yes, it is true… but nevertheless she is completely naked. I can not dwell on why. You may see in the series.

When you play the king’s squire, it probably means that you must ride a horse?

-Yes, I ride around a lot. I’ve tried it a few times before, so it went very well. But it will of course always depend on what kind of a horse you get set up with (ha-ha).

I have read that American fans of ‘Game of Thrones’ think your nose is wrong?

-It is true that some think that my nose is weird, because it has a crack. They think that I generally fit nicely into the role of Jaime Lannister, from the novel, but that my nose is a little off. I broke my nose as a child – it was something with some wild pranks, I guess. So it looks a bit messed up, but I don’t intend to do anything about it.<

Winter Is Coming: That nose thing just won’t die, will it? For the record, I never had a problem with his nose and think he is going to make an excellent Jaime. Interesting about Headey being pregnant for the shoot. Assuming the show gets picked up, that could really throw a wrench into the plans of filming the first season in the next 5 or 6 months.<

[silly fan fuss - unique noses can be quite sexy, can't they;)  especially when the attached man looks almost as good as RA...emphasis on almost]
