LATEST Casting News: Game of Thrones will begin filming in 10 days, therefore, today there were many revelations of the actors who will fill the final slots for season 1, including Bronn. He is Jerome Flynn(left) born 1963(47 yrs old) in Bronley, Kent, UK. The role of Stannis Baratheon's brother Renly was filled by actor Gethin Anthony(on right)...

HBO just released a huge cast list for Season I (I guess they got tired of all the guessing) and Richard is not Bronn. (The actor who is Bronn is not at all like I picture the character). I didn't see Richard's name...but we still hold out hope for Stannis.
Musa, I've just returned from the Westeros website after reading the long list of roles filled. See a pic of Jerome Flynn(Bronn) above. He's 47yrs old and certainly not a visual stunner, but possibly it's one of those situations where personality suddenly puts a handsomer face on the character. If you were envisioning RA in the role, it's perfectly clear why you were non-plussed by Flynn;)
The Stannis role does sound more Richard's cuppa tea - morally conflicted, somewhat angry with what he considers personal slights. Then the beautiful priestess relationship adds to the smolder stew.
Did you notice grrm said Stannis was brooding at Dragonstone:) He'll need to brood until they receive the green light for season2. Hopefully the first will be a blockbuster hit and casting for the 2nd series will begin almost immediately. Ever the optimists, are we not? teeheehee....ask and you shall receive. This time it's more like hope and we'll see.
Just read on Twitter that the Tywin Lannister role has not yet been cast...is that right? He sounds like a nasty s.o.b. haha Probably too old a character for Richard to play?? No doubt RA would enjoy the mean aspect to the role, but killing children might be taking it too far to the dark side..even for him. Especially if there isn't any redemption in sight for Tywin:)
Musa, we're drowning in new information today. Have you seen a photo of Renly Baratheon? He's actor Gethin Anthony? hmmm, handsome brother for Stannis. Although, soon after having that initial thought I'd remembered there's a strong insinuation in the book, confirmed by grrm, that Renly has a 'special' affection for..is it Lorris, a young knight?
Of course, Gethin is another unknown to me, as are all those cast besides Sean Bean & Harry Lloyd. Many readers are doing handstands over the casting, so I'll assume they know of which they gush:)
I like that...drowning in information for sure. Several posters in the various sites have mentioned surprise at the casting for Bronn. But, if the guy is a good actor maybe he can pull it off. Someone also mentioned they thought Richard would be perfect for Bronn...time to move on! I think the actor picked for Renly is good looking enough, though he's supposed to me the handsomest man in Westeros (maybe that will be Stannis - LOL). Yes, he and Loras have a very special affection for one another - very much implied, but more "don't ask, don't tell" type of thing. Many of the actors I also don't know well, I tend to know some of the older ones, and none of the younger ones (reflects my own age I think). The big one left for Season 1 is Tywin. Too old for Richard. We'll see who they cast. I did see on the blogs that they will have a flashback, a non-speaking one, with Jon Arryn. Maybe they'll change their minds and have a flashback with Stannis! I guess we'll have to seek solace in Lucas North for now RiCrAr.
