Strike Back: Watched eps 5&6 w/DH

He was so adorable...opening credits begin to scroll...first actor's name...Richard Armitage.  DH asks - "who's Richard Armitage?" (drawing out the last 'a'...as in the last syllable of massage)  My reply: "he's the star - John Porter".  Sweetie says: "oh, Guy of Gisborne!" hahaha.  Evidently Richard will remain forever GoG in my DH's mind.  I know many readers are saying to themselves "and that's how it should be"...you know who you are--all you devoted Guy gals;)

He enjoyed the 2eps tremendously, and at the very end as we watched John driving through the desert pursued by the bloody US military ;) my honey said "what the hell!..they can't leave it hanging there!"  So, first thing I did after getting online was send a tweet to Sky1 Insider quoting my eloquent hubby.  No doubt it will get the powers that be scrambling to produce SB2. hahaha, if only it was that easy:)
Hope everyone has/is having sweet dreams....

What a sweet OH! You've obviously converted him to Richard Armitage now and can look forward to future viewing together. I should be so lucky!

Yeah, perhaps Sky1 wil get on the case when a male viewer expresses their opinion. We have to try every avenue available!

Morning Enrich,
I'd thought GoG had been replaced in DH's mind as Lucas North, but last evening's SB exchange proved otherwise. Sir Guy had a way of leaving a lasting impression, didn't he.

Can't help but wonder why it's taking the SKY network such a long time to make their decision - suppose they have an annual routine to formulate budgetary strategy like the majority of other businesses.

Very clever of you RiCAr to introduce Richard to DH in such a smart way :)

I think it's almost certain that Sky1 will commission another series of Strike Back/John Porter. (They'd be fools not to!). They don't seem to be restricted by budgeting problems in the way BBC and other terrestrial channels over here in England are. I'm still doubtful that there will be a series 10 of Spooks though, the ratings are far too low to make it worth while.

I must admit to being a bit miffed by Richard's comments about most fans being "middle-aged, radio 4 listeners". What! You must be joking mate!!!! As for him thinking we fans would hate Strike Back and John Porter, nothing could be further from the truth as far as this fan is concerned. I loved every blood-thirsty minute of it, you can keep you Sex in the City, give me bulging biceps and a big gun anyday!!!(John Porter didn't "repel" me what-so-ever!)

Musa, Thought my heavy breathing during RH2 might've alerted DH that introducing him to the series wasn't simply from the goodness of my heart;)

The male ego is a delicate thing so never made my 'crush' perfectly clear to hubby. Besides, he's also benefitted from this hobby of mine - therefore would no doubt say 'carry on my dear' if my cover is ever completely blown:)

BTW, have also introduced him to GOT's developments. We'll subscribe to HBO for the first 6 mos of 2011 in order to catch that series plus hopefully to see their former series 'Rome'. We were originally HBO subscribers but had it removed while our children were very young. Didn't want their young minds polluted with all the gutter language, etc.

We've both become involved w/the American Politics discussion at the SOIaF forum. Every path seems to lead to politics for both of us...hahaha...started arguing it on our first date. At the time we were on opposite sides of the political fence. Today we're more in sync...on all but one issue. Had to make a pact to make that one(abortion) an 'off limits' area & respect each others opinions. Truthfully, believe we've moderated each others attitudes on that issue to the point we're not nearly as strident in our positions - more tolerant & understanding of each others beliefs.

Sue, as far as Richard's '40ish, radio4' comment. Perhaps he has that impression as a result of a few of those particular people creating the noisiest incidents among his fan base. Those of us who don't really fit that profile(did listen to Clarissa however:) tend to be more easy going - not prone to making an elaborate excuse to complain to his agent about anything;) The few that have taken that ridiculous action in the past, remind me of some divorced women who consider any type of communication (no matter how negative)as better than complete lack of it. Sad really.

I've never written a fan letter to anyone, so maybe we represent the more laid-back, realistic contingent of his followers. those who he rarely hears from. We know we're having a wide-awake fantasy(hopefully not always awake;), and don't need to pretend otherwise with silly complaints to him through his agent. He has said 'negative' remarks stay w/him longer than compliments. So, maybe to Richard's mind many in his female fan base are strait-laced 'ladies' who would find Porter crude & unrefined;)

In my experience there's a small percentage of that type of woman among his admirers, but not nearly as many as he perceives there to be.

Yes, really eloquent! He expressed my thoughts at that scene perfectly!

I'd like a SB2 too, but really hoping if it's done they are more creative with the plots. As much as I enjoyed each ep, as a whole the plots are similar so the -pickiest- males (being them their main target) will might loose interest.

About RA's comment on his fans, I interpret them as politeness to answer a tiring/difficult question(for the incident you mention, I guess he feels he has to be careful) injected with his particular sense of humor, I actually smiled as his descrption. I am not middle aged but I *am* well-educated and I listened to Clarissa :P, so he is forgiven. *wink*

OML, did you read any male reactions to SB? Quite a few of them grumbled at different websites that despite the fact there were a couple hottie females in the cast, Richard was the only one to go shirtless. teehee

I for one told them to stop trying to fight a force of nature;) Then suggested SKY might be teasing them so they'll tune in for SB2 to see some female eye candy. Hope no one from SKY read my post and took it seriously, because we prefer their 'nature's beauty' priority list in SB1, don't we;)

Commented to the complaining guys that all the firefights & explosions should've fulfilled their desires for action and one's reply was 'meh'. haha..if Shelly's in the next one, she might need to be prepared for a more graphic dream sequence than this time.

Men! If they had shirtless females and less blodd&action, they would also complain!(lol)

No, please not with Danni. I really like JP, but if he keeps this thing with her, after knowing he was an assigment...It's a point against him in my book.

OML :)

hahaha...was Porter asked to comment for Danni's annual 'performance appraisal?';) haha He didn't seem to mind that she was 'on assignment'...would you have accepted the assignment, if asked?
