I wonder if this real life spy ring is going to have any influence on script development for Spooks 9? The spy swap today certainly makes it look like life is following Spooks 7!
judith, the Spooks creator made a statement in his recent article about the current US spy arrests providing tons of new material for writers.
How can they possibly out-write RL this time? UNLESS, they portray the red-headed spy as Vladimir's mistress. He'd be flattered...that spy master might've made the swap in order to start rumors about his sexual prowess. Remember his beefcake pics a couple yrs ago--IMO, the man's a maniacal egotist.
Can hardly wait for Spooks9..Bring it on!...should it be 'Bring HIM on';)
I think this story may have come a little late to include it in series 9 of Spooks, but you never know. I honestly can't understand why Russia would want to swap some high profile CIA spies for ten of these quite low value Russians. I doubt if Anna is any match for Mata Hari. She'd better keep her mitts off our Lucas though, otherwise the Armitage Army will come and sort her out!!! If anyone is going to interrogate LN it's gonna be me!(Waterboarding will be nothing compared to what I'd have in store for him!)
Sue, one of the 4spies turned over to the US(all Russian born) is 90yrs old:O...how long was he in prison?yikes!
The fact all 4 were born in Russia makes me wonder about 'moles', and not the delicious Armitage variety either;)
Remember RA stating during an interview how they're often called back at the last moment to redo some scenes. The Spooks writers might be pounding away as we pound away:) re-writing portions of S9. We shall see...not for a few more mos...boohoo...Which month does the new series begin?
Well you never know. Never say never is my motto. The US and Russia did do the spy swap on British soil after all! I wouldn't trust that Putin as far as I could spit him. He's as crafty as a cart load of monkeys and he is the one pulling all the strings not the Russian Prime Minister after all.
Maybe Lucas will turn out to be a double agent and get sent back to Russia as part of a spy swap? Of course that would mean him undergoing intensive debriefing. (I'm up for that if the jobs on offer!It'd be a tough job but somebody's got to do it!)

Look at the latest post - you've one of the RL spies living in a hotel outside London, while we're hosting the other 3. They make me uneasy...what devious plan has Putin hatched this time? The 4 have probably been psychologically programmed to take action if Vladimir presses a button in the Kremlin. He's one sinister ideological tyrant.
Well Putin was in the KGB himself so he'll likely know every trick in the book. I think those ten spies will be just the tip of the iceberg, but what they thought they'd discover that they couldn't find out from searching on Google totally flummocks me!
As for debriefing Lucas, I'd find his weak point and tickle his fancy shall I say!I can hear him bellowing to get this mad woman off him now!By the end of a week he'd have spilled the beans and be begging the Russians to send him to Siberia!
