DISCUSSION: Spooks 8, Ep 6 Speculation

In the trailer to next week's Spooks ep we first see Lucas confront Sarah by angrily asking "Why did you kill your boss?"....then we hear Sarah meekly & desperately saying...exact quote: "This is bad Lucas - these guys are not going to stop."
Anyone want to speculate who "these guys" might possibly be?...or about the details of their apparently dreadful intentions?

LOVEometer Gadget

Give it a try - can't miss the new gadget with that humongous heart.  Simply type in Richard's and your name and see what rating the mating receives from the God of Love.   BTW,  as a means of comparison 'Lucas+Sarah' received 87??...gadget might need repairs:)  Although, I was really happy with mine combined with Richard = 97 *sigh, wibbly wobble*   Here's hoping the meter reads 'hot stuff' for everyone.

Spooks 8 Discussion: All Comments Welcome

EPISODE 5: Anyone have an opinion why Lucas didn't make an excuse to not pursue his 'date' with Sarah once he decided she had lied about where she was when Samuel Walker died?  In fact, if he was convinced she had killed her boss why did he not find a way to call the evening's activities immediately to a halt rather than proceed as if everything remained the same between them?

Any and all comments are welcome for any episode or the series in general so far.  For instance, are you enjoying series 8 as much as 7?

Moment it became evident Lucas was no longer Sarah's malleable lovesick puppy - he gently BUT firmly pinned her arm to the pillow

and held it there for quite awhile. It became vividly clear to the viewer who was the dominant partner...always the gentleman but no longer her sex puppet

Obviously Agent North will no longer be purring (or in his case is it groweling?) double entendre invitations for Sarah to join him for breakfast.  Question is however have the writers killed her off in ep 6?

Did RA Say A Sequel to N&S Would Make Him Happy?

Did I hear Richard say in the interview sound clip currently playing in this blog's sidebar that it would make him happy if someone wrote a sequel to North & South? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bDhm4AwCx8

An Armitage Dream: RICHARD III---Question:......................Was He Really Deformed?

From the UK Richard III Society website

Richard III’s Appearance.....by Carolyn Hammond
Many people’s image of Richard III is influenced by Shakespeare’s portrait of the ‘poisonous bunch-backed toad’, a limping hunch-back with a withered arm. Shakespeare’s sources were the Tudor chroniclers, hostile to Richard. Perhaps Shakespeare also wanted to reflect the medieval idea that an evil mind must dwell in a twisted body. But if we examine what the people who actually saw Richard said, or look at his portraits, then a rather different picture emerges. The earlier portraits, such as that belonging to the Society of Antiquaries, which although not painted in his lifetime are based on originals that could have been done from life, show no sign of deformity. Later portraits, further from the lost originals, and painted to fit in with the established myth, show uneven shoulders and a villainous countenance. The raised shoulder of the Windsor portrait can be shown under X-ray to be a later addition to a painting with a normal shoulder line. The only totally unbiased commentator is von Popplau, who mentions no deformity; the Crowland Chronicler, Mancini and de Commynes, none of them particularly pro-Richard witnesses, also make no mention of any deformity, although they must all have either met Richard themselves, or, in the case of Mancini, spoken to those who had. Those writing under the early Tudors mention the unevenness of Richard's shoulders, but since they cannot agree on which was higher, this may not have been very pronounced - perhaps just the result of more development of the muscles of the right arm and shoulder as the result of weapon training in his youth. Even the hostile witnesses agree on Richard’s bravery and prowess in battle, so any disablement must have been slight enough not to affect his use of weapons or control of his horse. As Sir Winston Churchill said in his History of the English Speaking Peoples: ‘No-one in his (Richard’s) life time seems to have remarked these deformities, but they are now very familiar to us through Shakespeare’s play’.

Episode Trivia: Shakespeare's 'KING LEAR' and Lucas & Sarah's Relationship

'KING LEAR' Excerpt: "O, reason not the need: our basest beggars
Are in the poorest thing superfluous:
Allow not nature more than nature needs,
Man's life's as cheap as beast's: thou art a lady;
If only to go warm were gorgeous,
Why, nature needs not what thou gorgeous wear'st,
Which scarcely keeps thee warm. But, for true need,--
You heavens, give me that patience, patience I need!
You see me here, you gods, a poor old man,
As full of grief as age; wretched in both!
If it be you that stir these daughters' hearts
Against their father, fool me not so much
To bear it tamely; touch me with noble anger,
And let not women's weapons, water-drops,
Stain my man's cheeks! No, you unnatural hags,
I will have such revenges on you both,
That all the world shall--I will do such things,--
What they are, yet I know not: but they shall be
The terrors of the earth. You think I'll weep
No, I'll not weep:
I have full cause of weeping; but this heart
Shall break into a hundred thousand flaws,
Or ere I'll weep. O fool, I shall go mad!"........................Wm Shakespeare

--In the ongoing discussion of Lucas and Sarah's complicated relationship, and the Spooks writer's apparent visual comparison with the continuing strong emotional hold on him by his former Russian prison interrogator, there's a fascinating piece of trivia.

In ep 2, Lucas threatens Sarah by warning her to backoff and she responds to him using a quote from Shakespeare contained in the passage above from 'King Lear.' Can anyone identify the lines Sarah uttered? Did the writers put the excerpt in her mouth in order to yet again demonstrate why/how his lover seems to have a strong hold on LN? We would very much like to hear your opinions on this topic. The answer to this trivia question can be found HERE

DISCUSSION: Spooks 8, Ep 4

Did everyone find ep 4 of Spooks 8 to be very exciting and also puzzling at some points?  In particular, did you find a great deal of symbolism was used in the following scene? As is evident in this pic, Lucas has become quite taken with Sarah.

During this romantic scene
some of the visuals appeared to be a Lucas hallucination,

when his loving expression towards Sarah suddenly
changed to horror upon evidently hallucinating that he was looking at his Russian torturer
The scene did appear to have a happy ending

Was the writer's intention to demonstrate that Lucas is being manipulated by both the Russian and his lover Sarah?
What path do you believe their relationship will take after ep 4?  Will the end of the current series again find him broken-hearted and alone?  We'd very much enjoy hearing your opinion so far of Spooks series 8 and/or ep 4.  Hopefully all will end well for our hero.

and the entire Spooks team.
