Spooks 8 Episode 8 Finale

OMG! Wasn't Ep 8 a chilling one?...brrrrrr.  If only what's promoted as fiction didn't hit so close to the reality at home it wouldn't be nearly as disturbing.  Really getting rather scary to realize that Spooks writers apparently are more tuned into/knowledgeable about the current American political landscape than are many voters in the USA.  IMO, one line from ep 8 series 8 made that perfectly clear for anyone keeping a close eye on global events.

The line came from Sarah as she replied to Lucas' statement to her (in effect) "You don't trust your own government.
You don't trust humankind...you disgust me."  Her response to him: "Yes, it's true. I'm a liberal elitist and therefore favor those I consider to be the beautiful brilliant people in today's world."

Anyone else have an opinion about Ep 8, or a clue where the writers might venture for Spooks 9?  And what about Lucas' reaction to Sarah's death?  Did he sincerely love her and therefore felt devastating grief or was he acting out another set of emotions?

Last but not least, was RA relieved to know Sarah's elimination would not be at his hands and thereby avoid any possibility of being labeled (when combined with Marian's demise) a ladykiller:)   Won't work, will it....he is in fact a world-class ladykiller and wonderful actor as well (could the former be a natural result of the latter?)

It will seem like an interminable wait for series 9, but it's comforting to know we do have 'Strike Back' to look forward to in April, isn't it.

Does he love her? Yes. Does he hate her? Yes. A lot of fans wanted him to shoot her dead but as we saw in this ep he had his chances and never took them, even at Ros' goading.

I almost can't believe it's over. It's been just 2 months out of the year that it's been screening.

Wonder if RA pleaded with the writers' to not have Lucas commit the deed---an actor could get a nasty reputation for killing off his leading ladies:)

Believe Richard explained when he joined Spooks that the original 13 eps were compressed into 8 in order to improve quality. Must admit they've compacted a lot of rivetting drama into the show.

The only US tv series on my watch list will retun in Jan - 'Burn Notice' & '24'. Both are in the politics/action genre with global events providing writers' inspiration.

Ooooh, that's right...will be watching Spooks 7 & 8 as well w/hubby in the wks ahead. Should do nicely to bridge the gap between now and SB.

Wow 13 into 8, that's close to halving.

Hmmm, I wonder how much input he was allowed on Spooks. It seems like he had somewhat in RH with GoG but here it was a lot more on the fly with rewrites slipping in last minute.

IMO, Richard does influence the writers' with his vivid imagination. For instance, in Ep 1 of Spooks 7 as Lucas approaches Harry at the spy swap, Harry asks "How are you?" and LN responds "a little cold."...get it - in from the cold. That line had RA's fingerprints all over it:)

In Spooks 8 a journalist tells Lucas he'll post some national secret on-line if MI5 doesn't get off his back. After the man walks away Lucas mutters "damn internet!" Obviously those words were targeted to his fans who he knew would chuckle:)
