Mar 21 Startdate:The Hobbit + bccmee Captures Heinz + Hunt for Back of Herr Kruger's Head:) + RH Questionnaire Entry by FairyKingdom86 +Richard Armitage Pix + The EAGLE Trailer

Great quality capture by bccmee during the 30sec Captain America Superbowl ad...

Can't find the back of head  snippet reported by Laura, BUT do believe it's RA's profile in the sub as water comes gushing through side window...appears about 15-19sec..

Filed under Life's pleasureable li'l moments:  This evening we watched ep 4 of the series - called Sharpe's Gold.  The plot became rather gruesome halfway into the story; however, we really enjoyed one of the earlier scenes.  A young woman had reason to join the brigade during their mission in Spain.  She was keen on practicing marksmanship and explained to Capt Sharpe that her rifle was American.  Then she added "made in Pennsylvania" to which Richard replied "even better."  Hubby and I simultaneously threw our arms in the air and yelled "Yay!"  We were both so surprised to hear those lines exchanged as we sat in our family room in Pennsylvania enjoying the British saga of the early 1800s Napoleonic Wars.  HA!  Small world indeed;)

Back to the real world - following is hilarious and unfortunately not far from the truth, if wrong-headed power-hungry liberal politicians ever  get their way.  They believe it's the government's right to track every step of your life - that's the slippery slope to waving goodbye to personal freedom...

So happy you and your husband are enjoying Sharpe. I'll have to watch Sharpe's Gold again, though I remember the scene. Go Pennsylvania! A little trivia: You know the episode is very different from Cornwell's book, but they had to re-write it because of the contract with Paul McGann who was originally cast as Sharpe. (Lucky for all of us Sean Bean was available and became Sharpe!). If my memory is correct, the 95th Rifles was formed in part as a response to the American Revolutionary War and the experience of the British troops there.

Getting set to watch the Super Bowl for those 30 seconds of Captain America. Hope we see RA!

OOH!! OOH!!! I saw the CA commercial (it was about 3/4 of the way through the second quarter)... and I even saw the *back of RA's head*!! SWOON!! (no, I'm not being even the slightest bit tongue-in-cheek, here!!)

Seriously, the trailer gave the movie a much darker than I expected, although that could just be the '50s-ish setting.

I meant "a much darker FEEL than I expected". sorry.

I saw the 30sec CA ad as well but missed back of his head -- thought he was briefly visible as water gushed through the window of Heniz's sub...might've been my imagination. It wizzed by so quickly, can't be sure what was there. Although had to chuckle at his reply after the Capt was injected with miracle serum and was asked "how do you feel?". He replied "taller." haha

CA's director promised a lengthier trailer - off to check youtube to see if it or the 30sec ad are available.

Paul McGann, Musa? Never realized someone else was cast for the part other than SB. What was in his contract that made it necessary to rewrite the episode?

As usual Major Sharpe unselfishly comforted another damsel in distress -- is there no end to his charity when it comes to the agreeable ladies who find themselves in the midst of warfare;)

Laura, can you describe where in the 30sec ad you spotted the back of Heinz's head? The profile in sub is only glimpse I've found of him so far. Can you see a really strong resemblance to Daniel Radcliffe in the pic above.

Completely out of context with your recent additions, but thought I'd start a bit of gossip...
Last week on a programme here in Blighty called The One Show, Richard Curtis (writer of Vicar of Dibley, Notting Hill, Four Weddings, Love Actually, Bridget Jones etc) was talking about a new film he's writing and I quote "all about love, and time travel"....now which interview was it where RA mentioned he would like to make a movie "all about love!"? Let's hope Richard Curtis remembers our RA when he's casting eh? Then we might see him back in a Harry Kennedy type role...fingers crossed!

MsG68, certainly not gossip but interesting information indeed;) We know Richard's penchant for cleverly inserting stream of thought terms into his interviews, which we could never decipher without hindsight. e.g. "in murky waters" prior to the new at the time Capt America role.

Perhaps Richard Curtis already pitched his new idea to RA using the "all about love" phrase.

Thx--it's great to have new possibilities to discuss during the long Hobbit wait.

It was the side of his head... the one in the sub, that I saw. The clip was so fast, I thought his head was turned farther.

Paul McGann was the original Sharpe, not Sean. During a weekend brake from filming, after they had filmed at least one episode already, while playing football(soccer) McGann suffered a bad injury. Long story short, enter Sean Bean, the rest is Sharpe history :)

I think it's still considered one of the largest insurance settlements in UK TV history. For some contractual reason they had to change Sharpe's Gold from the original book.

Back to RA! Agree, he's always dropping little or big hints that we seem to never get until after the fact. Hope it is "all about love" after The Hobbit. YES!

Thx for the McGann explanation, Musa.

As for the "all about love" possible hint, Richard also remarked during that interview (or another from the same series of interviews) that he'd enjoy playing a comedy role.
