Welcome Back RicRAr! So happy you had such a wonderful family vacation.
mmmmmm? Interesting couplings here for RA. I voted but had to think about it for a while.

Thx for the warm welcome, Musa:)

It really was a fun trip...didn't have rain all week...traffic was somewhat heavy in spots for the trip down, but very light coming home. Everyone remembered to apply sunscreen--no hospital runs necessary for sun poisoning (always a good thing).

Only anxious moments were discovering one day that a fatally injured shark had washed up onshore shortly after we'd exited the water:O Apparently it swam into the blades of a powerboat--there were deep lacerations on it's head.

Have you learned anymore about ABC's planned adaptation of Spooks? They wouldn't dare make it without including the most exciting character played by the best actor on the planet, would they;)

Won't be of any interest to me unless they do just that--which will no doubt get them very worried..LOL. It's unbelievable that the producers are not even certain if their adaptation will have a British theme--don't understand why they'd buy the rights if it won't really resemble the original show.

Wonder if this means Spooks 9 will be the last, or if it's still possible there could be a S10? Of course, that won't really matter if Lucas doesn't survive S9...yikes!
Happily we know John Porter will keep our feet warm at night..hahaha..so to speak;)

The shark story is something else - pretty scary. Glad you had great weather and a great time!

I don't know anything further about the Spooks/MI-5 US remake, but most of the UK drama's that they've tried to translate to US TV, like Life on Mars, have not lived up to the original in my opinion. Why don't they just show the UK version of Spooks with our RA on ABC! I'm watching the series now showing on my local Public TV channel, not Lucas yet, we're up to the Adam episodes.(Thanks to Netflix, I have seen Season 7). Why can't US TV come up with original shows? I assume they'll remake it as a show about the FBI if they're dealing with home grown threats?

Though I would love to see RA on US TV every week, I fear they would make him speak with a US accent, and even if his voice would still be lovely to hear, why tamper with perfection?

Of course, they could always have Lucas North transfer over to the FBI for some sort of Spy Exchange? A love affair with a woman with a real American accent :)? Now that would be interesting to watch.

The only wkly US series I'm currently following have either FBI or CIA backdrops - they're both on the USA Network(White Collar & Burn Notice). That particular channel is really giving the others strong competition in the adult drama genre. Perhaps ABC is attempting to capture part of their audience market share.

Last wk found myself somewhat interested in a show immediately following the aforementioned - it's called 'Covert Affairs'. The storyline tracks a female FBI agent on her missions.

Last wk's plot involved her interpersonal/professional squabbling w/a member of the Israeli secret svc -- well written & very exciting(could almost cut the sexual tension between them w/a knife:) The leading actress has an amusing, laid-back, pleasant personality...IMO, rarely the case for many shows.

Agreed casting depts are dropping the ball when it comes to insisting most characters must have a US accent. Why are we expected to automatically accept all other influences of globalization and then pretend the actors are exclusively homegrown? It's not only unrealistic but also keeps the programming dull, boring for the huge chunk of the population who already in daily contact with inhabitants in every corner on the planet.

DH enjoys a major website that provides challenging games of all sorts while communicating realtime w/playing partners worldwide. They often exchange political banter comparing local political situations. Then TV execs assume our ears will be put off by foreign sounds - they're totally clueless. Did anyone ever take a survey & get the public's authentic reaction to the situation? - Very doubtful. Apparently their brilliance at making decisions doesn't require input from the rabbling crowd. Current occupants of the WH have the same attitude;) haha.
