Anyone else remember what had prompted the wide devilish smile above?  It was during the NZ press conference for The Hobbit.  One of the other actors made a naughty remark.  All 3 hot hunks above seemed to appreciate, and probably agreed  with, the comment.  Here's a hint--a reference was made to a particular type of material.  Expression above seems to say "I can't believe he just said that."

Family member was a Star Trek convention goer for many yrs, therefore know it can get rather crazy with their nerdy enthusiasm.  We're up to the Thorin task at hand! As RA said "Bring it on!"  Musa is planning to wear a dwarf woman costume for our *virtual* trip to the convention, so I'll need to contemplate how hubby's fav comic book phenomenon - Wonder Woman's skimpy 2-piece costume - can be adapted for middle earth.  Suppose that won't work since, while reading Tolkien's THE HOBBIT, there didn't appear to be any females in it. Might need a Thorin-like cloak with hood.

Butterflies are Free..(and the prettiest insect on the planet)

This photo of hubby's was my inspiration for the above RA collage.  Yesterday while walking away from the parking lot, in order to hike around our fav lake, we spotted this group of beautiful swallowtail butterflies at the edge of the tarmac. They're huge.  At first we were concerned they were in distress, because we  walked close enough to touch them yet they remained in the same spot.  Upon returning from the hike, we checked to see if they were still there.  As we approached the flock? hive? bevy? swarm?:) group, they suddenly fluttered into the air in unison. Naturally we were very relieved to see that these natural works of art were in fine flying order. Perhaps they were napping the first time we approached:)

“Peter Jackson’s Vision for the Hobbit is Clear, REALLY Clear…

Almost everyone throughout Peter Jackson’s Hobbit looked great.  But  maybe it looked too great? As happy as exhibitors were with the storytelling on display in Jackson’s two-movie return to J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy world, there were loud grumbles about his decision to shoot it with new technology that uses 48 images, or “frames,” to create every second of footage, instead of the traditional 24.  The result was an ultra-clear image that the oscar-winning filmmaker hopes will make 3-D less bothersome to the eye…Both films will also be released in the traditional format, but some big theater chains agreed to give his 48-frame experiment a shot.  “We’re happy with the visual aspects of 48 frames per second,” says Amy Miles, CEO of Regal Entertainment Group, which plans to upgrade between 2,500 and 2,700 of it’s 3-D projectors for THE HOBBIT.  “There are some guys in our industry where you just say, over time, they’ll figure this stuff out.  It doesn’t hurt that it’s somebody like Peter Jackson.”
