I voted on your 'likeability' poll for Mr Bell but it was actually a tie between him and fanny. He's an old fox, and she's comic relief. He got the vote because he left her the money, which was invested in that speculation, which grew overnight, which led to the train station, and the rest is history.
Currently it's almost a tie between Dixon & Mr. Bell. I voted for her mainly because it's one of my surnames:) She was also a loving friend to Mrs. Hale...despite the blatant & annoying class distinctions omnipresent during that era.

I voted for Mr. Bell although I almost voted for Fanny. She was a hoot.
Mr Bell is currently beating the pants off the ladies:)....there's a term you'd probably never hear in the 19thC.
