Musical interlude: at long last finally found some eye/ear candy in country western. Somehow when it's Josh Turner singing "ain't got no" it doesn't grate quite so badly on the ears...

Josh is strong proof of the importance of packaging in selling your product, which is often yourself. I actually hate,,err,,have a strong aversion to country western music but not when he's singing it - "she's my firecracker...she's the light of my life"...so poetic:) ;)
National joke: What happens when a man plays country western music in reverse---Answer: he recovers his dog, house & wife, in that order:)

It's been announced that Andrea Arnold is going to be the director of a film of Olivia Hetreed's adaptation of the Emily Bronte novel Wuthering Heights. I don't think they've cast the leading roles yet but surely Richard must be in with a chance. There is a photo of Richard where his hair is all tousled and wet looking and he reminds me of how Heathcliff looked when he had been out on the Yorkshire Moors in a scene from Wuthering Heights. There have been many remakes of this but sadly they lacked any menancing atmosphere which the original film in black and white had starring Lawrence Olivier. Richard even reminds me of him a little, who even played Richard III. Could this be an omen? I would rather see Richard playing Heathcliff than Charlie any day. Leave the macho men to the empty-headed hulks that can't do anything else. Richard excels in tortured role characterisations and there was none more a tortured soul than Heathcliff if done properly.

Hi sue, thanks for the Wuthering Heights information. I agree Richard does show some resemblance to Mr Olivier but IMHO the former is far better looking...surprize,surprize, right:)
Some mos back when there was speculation RA might play Heathcliffe I watched Sir Lawrence's performance online. It's available gratis. will find my bookmark and post the link above.
Would the photo of Richard w/hair wet & tousled possibly be as John Standring? Of course, Sir Guy had that type of scene as well.
IMO Richard would be an unforgettable Heathcliffe. His dark looks both literally & figuratively are made for the part.
As for Charlie - it appears RA is currently offered action men roles due to his high powered performances both as Sir Guy and LN. He seems pleased to be in demand right now, but no doubt is looking forward to someday having the luxury of being persnickety in his choices:)
