I remember in primary school, looking at Richard the Lionheart, and being interested in the Norman Conquest. In this particular version of the story, I was kind of fascinated with what the relevance was between a boy raised in the occupation in rural Ireland, and the conflict between a kind of peace loving group of monks versus this family, particular with Raymond De Merville as the young prince who had been raised with the traits of war hanging over him."
