Glimmers in John Thornton's Eyes?

How many glimmers can we detect in JT's eyes when he gazes at Margaret?

When imagining the answer, keep in mind that huge families were the norm in Victorian times....no birth control(other than natural...in other words none:) was available hence the necessity for humungous-sized mansions to house one family:)  Most families had a large number of maiden aunts who usually had shied away from the challenge of raising a large brood of children.  We're the lucky ones whose gggmothers were courageous souls, ready to shoulder the heavy burden of raising many offspring  during an era without electrical washing machines, vacuums, etc.  Let's raise our glasses to them -- brave, loving & hard-working women that they were!!
