Evidence above and below that the handsome male gene has flourished in No England. Never heard this DH Lawrence quote before - extremely wise man! BTW, not being totally gracious with the "handsome" assessment. My father's ancestors emigrated from that area to the USA in 1870. Their homestead was just a few miles from Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, where DH Lawrence was born.
