New RA Spooks 9 Photo

Take a deep breath...new photo followed by 'rich' headline...

SPOOKS star Richard Armitage returns for the drama's ninth series and becomes embroiled in what bosses say is a "dark secret that leads to the ultimate betrayal".

The spy hit airs on BBC1 in the autumn and is filming on location in London.

New stars include Underworld star Sophia Myles and The Tudors' Max Brown.

hmmmmm, "dark secret that leads to the ultimate betrayal".  Sounds as though it's even more sinister than the Sarah scenario.  The 'dark' secret wouldn't be the good news Ros survived, so what could it be?  Is it Lucas' betrayal?  Our hero would never really turn traitor, although he might appear to do so as part of a clever plot. They certainly know how to whet our appetites for the new series, do they not;)
The above photo reminds me of....

Could "dark betrayal" mean the demise of delicious Lucas? I know the show is shaking things up with the arrival of a slew of new actors, but I'd like Lucas to be around a while longer!

Hi MillyMe...*GASP*...certainly hope it's not Lucas' demise:( How could they do that to a large chunk of the viewing audience? It would be cruel, wouldn't it?

If the recent blog poll is representative of the current Spooks viewers, most RA fans will cease to watch without him.

What if the 'dark secret' is Harry's, not Lucas'? Is Peter planning to retire? If so, will Lucas take his place?...and we have MONTHS to go before any of our questions are answered. arrrggggg! :)

I think that the betrayal is Lucas finds out that Harry did sell him out to the Russians and Connie knew it and covered up for Harry!

Good guess, Guy Lover! RA fans embrace it. (Not so sure about Spooks fans....)

Here's an RA fan who warmly embraces Guy Lover's theory - although doesn't it seem extremely out of character for Hairy:) Pearce to sell anyone out to the enemy? If this is the final curtain for the show, the one consistent thread throughout the entire series comes to such a disgraceful end? hmmmm, I suppose, if Harry's motive was ultimately a greater good of some sort, it could be justified.

Is that LEATHER jacket?

I've been long suspecting Harry/Lucas issues being a topic in series 9.. and while our Lucious hero might finally crack I don't think he'd be the traitor.. and it wouldn't be all THAT shocking since many viewers still eye him with suspicion .. Harry however.. that would be a BOMB!!!
I totally subscribe to Guy Lover's theory...would explain Connie's not very convincing last words..
it's getting more intriguing by the day..
then again, it might all just be desinformatsya :D

I think the "ultimate" betrayal would be Ruth!- whom I love and will be devestated if this is true in 9!
Lucas & Harry are almost too obvious choices...they have previously been accused and proved themselves loyal.
just a thought...

Attempting to think 'outside the box' in Spooks writers' fashion, here's another theory: what if the plot this time concerns total betrayal by the head of state of another country instead of Lucas or Harry? If recent headlines are again included in the Spooks plot, we can ask if those doubting the continued existence of a 'special relationship' were picked up on by writers?? Could the plot involve an imaginative portrayal of the current President selling out the UK to Russia in some way? Problematic energy issues could again easily enter the plot. Did the reference to 'ultimate betrayal' refer to a personal or international relationship?

p.s. Both jackets above look like fabric to me, not leather. Didn't RA say the Spooks writers told him that starting with series 7 LN would never wear leather due to the Guy of Gisborne connection?

tyme for tea....agreed ;) Lucas looks especially good running when he's wearing a tshirt. The lowly t-shirt never looked sooooooo good:)
