T-Shirt Tuesday + Game of Thrones Bafta Q&A + Smolder Monday

Saw this link to HBO on twitter - sounds as though anyone can watch the first 3 episodes of Game of Thrones.  Don't know for certain..have not tried the link as yet...

Oops, wrong end - but pleasant memory - 2010 New Year's greeting for friends:)

Fascinating interview for Game of Thrones fans: Ned Stark(Sean Bean); King Robt(Mark Addy); Viserys(Harry Lloyd..one of Robin's merry men:); female set designer...

Best passage--reflecting current budget cutting debate in US congress:
"We learn the crown is 6 million in debt to those incestuous, scheming wittle wuff-killing Lannisters and the advisers pressure Ned to borrow even more money for a flashy tournament. All of a sudden, this fantasy TV show sounds awfully familiar. Like Ned is actually a grouchy senate minority leader who's telling President Obama's staff that he refuses to raise the national debt limit to accommodate a budget expansion. Which makes the Lannisters … what? China? Which means Littlefinger is … Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner? And does that mean Catelyn is Sarah Palin? She can see The Wall from her house!

If these silly fantasy kingdom leaders were nearly as smart as our political leaders over the last three decades, they'd know the best solution to this problem is to just keep borrowing heavily while printing more money. That tactic never catches up with a country! (Ahem)."  [R: we seem to be on the same page politically..perhaps that’s why I’m partial to his reviews]

[R: Must tweet dear Cersei this passage from the review: >"Everybody who isn't us is an enemy," Cersei says, just screwing her kid up even more.<]

Water, please!! Must cool off after this series of pics! I *knew* the smolder would be a good theme!!

Have you found a recipe for the Biscuit Cake? I'd love to give it a go...

No one smolders like Richard - no one!

If anything can make Monday's bearable, it's Smolder Monday! Thank you!

Just want to say, well done to your Navy Seals! Good job!

Your sentiments is really appreciated, MsG:) Wouldn't be surprised if a few of your special forces had a hand in it as well.

Reports I've read said Army Rangers also took part. It must have been a very complicated mission.

I give credit to Pres Obama for giving the go ahead when he was informed the opportunity presented itself. Liberal politicians in the past have managed to foul up military missions due to indecisiveness. This time he took the correct approach to rid the world of an evil man.

I understand the body was buried at sea, which makes great sense. Otherwise it's presence could be used for recruitment purposes wherever he was laid to rest.

Having given credit where it's due, must say it's not as though the Pres didn't need to do something positive to improve he's steadily declining approval ratings in recent months. Those of use who hold differing political beliefs than his, would have been grateful to hear the current Command in Chief give earned gratitude to the last CiC. The current one doesn't seem to be capable of taking the high road when it comes to his political opponents. That's one of the glaring differences between Repubs & Dems in the US.

Former V.P. Cheney when asked his reaction to OBL's death, had sterling words of praise for Pres Obama's decision. So, I'll follow his classy example and zip my lips at this point;) Sincere thanks again for your thoughtful message:)

Perhaps a least some minor justice for the families involved in both 9/11 and 7/7...

True..excellent point:)

The West takes every precaution possible to keep innocents from being harmed in the struggle, while their opponents strategize to take as many civilian lives as they can in a terrorist attack.

We'll see if this changes the frequency of terrorist events in coming mos. Believe bin Laden's deep pockets(inherited from his billionaire father)had been funding much of the mayhem. Who knows, he may have taken measures to make certain the funds keep flowing to the insane jihadists. Only time will tell.

Wouldn't it be nice if that dilapidated hovel was indicative of what was left of his fortune?

Oh, how I wish this was the end of it. Unfortunately, this is only a bump in a very, very long and complicated road.

I add my sentiments to yours, RiCrAr, and extend congratulations not only to President Obama, but to all of the brave men and women who were involved in the Takedown. And I will keep politics out of it. for now....

Meanwhile, I'm still trying to recover from your latest poll question. ONLY ONE NIGHT????? ONE??? Talk about cruel and unusual punishment... geez.

Ricrar said...

One night Laura? Was that a freudian slip? haha Isn't the poll one lonnng HUG. But go ahead - a girl can always dream...make it one night if you like. *wink, wink*

You're a better diplomat than me, gunga din;) Sorry, but the damage done in past couple years to the fabric of the USA has made me impatient to move on quickly to Nov 2012. We're happy that a cold-blooded killer of innocence is gone, but can't take our eyes off the goal of much-needed change in 2012.

Remember I mentioned I had been at the Baftas Q&A?

That's the one!

Ricrar said...

Hey there BeG..you lucky woman!;) Musa will want to know all about Sean Bean at the Baftas Q&A...she's gaga for him. We'd all enjoy hearing your impressions after the interviews.

Harry Lloyd's story was hilarious, about the Russian(vacationing in Malta) who stopped him(still in Viserys costume&wig) and said "Game of Thrones, right?..Viserys..Yes? If you need help, I am expert on those books."

DH watched the Q&A with me and we were both amazed at how much older the GoT makeup made both Sean and Mark Addy appear. Bean seemed extremely careful about his remarks and those who've read the book know it was w/good reason.

Well I didn't get any closer than that, was just seating in the audience, so what you see in the video is the same, except I WAS THERE! Breathing the same air!!! LOL!

Alfie Allen (Theon) and Joseph Mawle (Benjen) were in the audience also, just a few seats away from where I was.

We were shown the first two episodes, and when they ended I saw Mark Addy and Harry Lloyd standing on the side and then I spotted Sean, coming down the stairs... I was with a friend and all I could do was grab her hand and say "That's Sean Bean!!! He's really there!!!"

After the Q&A we were lead outside, so I didn't get an autograph or anything.

But it was very very exciting! Especially because it was my birthday!!!

Ricrar said...

A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you BEG:) Sounds as though you had a great time. Thx for sharing it with us.

Do you have a theme request while you're here. Maybe we should have a Sean Saturday for all you Bean babes. He is delish...more mature yet another husky voiced hunk. Sean's eyes say so much without the actor saying anything.(hmmm,,,mindful of someone else;) He just gives one of those riveting drop dead glances and everyone in the audience gets the message.

MsG68 said...

Yes I had that delight too some while ago, breathing the same air as Sean Bean :) ...a topless Sean within touching distance! Was in the front row of Macbeth in London....he was so close, and on his knees, it was almost uncomfortable. Having a hot flush just thinking about it!
:D

Brown-eyed Girl said...

MsG68: WOW! That must have been something!!!

Ricrar: I like Sean Bean, I think he's an amazing actor, he has a wonderful sexy voice, but somehow he doesn't push my buttons...

But maybe you could make a Game of Thrones day, with some photos of Nicolaj, Sean and *sigh* Richard Madden... This kid is getting under my skin with is wide blue eyes and his scottish accent. I feel kind of bad, because he's only 25, though...

MsG68 said...

Maybe we should have an Alternative Actor day Ricrar!?
We could all list our other favorites ;)
Altho none quite surpass our RA of course...

joanna said...

Thank you RiCrAr:)
@MsG68-Alternative Actor day??
A clue-NO!:):)

MsG68 said...

@joanna: NO?? why not? I'm not suggesting a 'do-away-with-RA-day'....that would be unthinkable!! :)
just a list of others we appreciate...we could have other little side-groups like the Bean-babes.

joanna said...

@MsG68 Well...O.K:)
Hugs and kisses:)
