Thx to Musa for Posting RA's Miners Reading + Nod to RA Central for Link + Don't Get Him in a Bad Mood + Beardalicious Tues + Continue to Vote - See Link Below

RA has said in interviews that among his ancestors can be counted weavers and miners.  He and I share the latter's presence in our family tree.  In the 1870 census when my newly emigrated ancestors were asked from whence they came, they replied to the census taker 'England.'  At that time British coal miners were the most experienced in the world.  Upon their arrival in Pennsylvania, they were immediately given the best paying, most responsible jobs.  The local library has a large collection of vintage books tracing the coal industry's earliest roots in Roman Britain, which resulted in many coal mines being located on ancient monastery grounds.  In my case, within a short time after arriving, the original immigrant generation had bought their own property (it was only possible legally to rent land, at that time, in their former homesteads) in order to build some of the most spacious houses in the area.  They truly believed the saying "a man's(& woman's:) home is his castle."  Their gardens were important to them as well.  Generations later, as a child, I looked forward each Spring to blossoming of the roses, irises and mint the former generation had planted.  Box evergreen hedges marked the property lines.

To beard or not to beard that is....the topic of comments below...

I'd wager everyone would approve of the following beard..

Captain America NEWS:  Thanks to RA Central for tweeting a link to the following article:

http://www.richardarmitagecentral.co.uk/

QUOTE: “The HYDRA soldiers managed to become cannon fodder easily and lived up to the "faceless goons" part well. But I have no issue with that. Not every soon-to-be-killed-off bad guy needs a back story or a personality. Another notable nod goes to Richard Armitage for playing a small part in Heinz Kruger (Schmidt's top assassin). He was a ruthless advisery for Steve's first 'avenging'. It really was a well thought out cast in general.”

Message to Smaug--don't get him in a bad mood...it's not pretty when Thorin starts to scowl....;)

Past Post: Capt America prequel announced & many luscious pics...

Thorin wins leading role in season 5 of The Tudors - Title: 'Return to Hampton Court Place'  The leader of the dwarves scowled and said "didn't realize how much I'd miss females while recapturing my ancestors treasures in MiddleEarth.  This time I'll get to growl at my wives instead of Bilbo."

Who is the Brit Male of 2011?..Need I ask :)  Vote for him here:

Dang. I just *cannot* get into the whole beard thing. Scruff, yes. Beard? no. Apologies to the ladies who like it. I hope he shaves it off soon. It covers too much of his face, or something.

I agree with Laura. Richard is gorgeous no matter what but I'm not a fan of the beard.

Same here:)

I quite like the beard, it makes him look very masculine and butch, but I prefer the clean shaven look. The beard makes him appear much older than his nearly 40 years. No point in looking any older than you have to is there? I have a sneaky suspicion Richard quite likes the new look, judging by how he keeps stroking his beard all the time.

Everything from stubble on is here on this website that I´ve created.
Need to update it, or create new one. Can´t find my enter code. Just now that the man is making huge efforts with new bearded pictures so to get them on this website. LOL! :D

Hi all, my preference for Richard is medium to heavy stubble BUT as long as he's required(or wishes) to make a living in his chosen profession, we & he have no other choice than to make the best of it when a beard is required. Apparently Thorin without a beard was considered an impossibility by Tolkien diehards. Found myself simply feeling grateful than director Jackson didn't insist it must be gray as well.

I agree that the beard does make RA look older, but that's the reality of what his Hobbit character requires.

In the meantime, we'll just need to marinate in all the delicious pix of him as Porter, Lucas, Guy, John and thereby remind ourselves was a handsome *friendly* face lies under it. Couldn't disagree more strongly with Richard's recent statement that his face is not a friendly one. He really is still his own worse critic. Does he think tens of thousands of women worldwide drool over his images because they adore the unfriendliness of his face:) doesn't make any sense, does it.

Violet, thanks for the link. I'm on my way right now to enjoy your site.

Yeah, I get why he's keeping it, for the time being... doesn't he have to go back for more filming? So it makes perfect sense, if that's the case. And I agree with you RiCrAr, thank goodness they didn't want him to go grey!! I still miss seeing his lips...

As for the face thing... I can understand that he wouldn't want to think of himself as handsome - in his line of work, it's too easy to get a big head. Perhaps "determined" is the word we should adopt. He has a very determined face - one that is determined to kill that bad guy, blow up that building, or love this woman. It works all the way around.

Sue, I just posted the older RA pic you mentioned a few days ago. Yum! I likey very much. Must admit that the vast majority of his photos from his 20s don't really appeal to me as far as his appearance. I agreed with RA when he said he grew into his face. What good fortune for an actor to improve visually as the yrs go by.

The newly discovered one posted above is delish in that RA's face is filled out--not the sunken cheeks that appear when he loses too much weight. And, for some unknown reason, his eyes look even larger than usual. Too bad it's not in color but Lord knows we have plenty of those as well. *happy face* :)

Laura, your remark about missing RA's lips (under the beard) gave me an idea for a theme. The sum of his parts, which will of course include at least one pic of just his lips. Check first pic in the latest post as well for RA's lips close up...don't make me have to clean the screen *hahaha* ;)

....go ahead enjoy - kiss, lick, drool all you want. *we're only human*

I love that new Star Wars pic as well! Too bad it's not in color, imagine those huge baby blue eyes :)

Ricrar, very interesting about your family's mining background. Would be interesting if RA would make a movie about the men who spent the war working in the mines as part of the war effort.

RiCrAr,

Thanks for including that early piccy of Richard. I don't know what it is but the early photographs of Richard don't really appeal to me. His face looks a little sullen and moody, not the lovely charismatic and cheerful character we know and love today. Was he an angst ridden teen do you think?

I think Richard might be back at work on The Hobbit in NZ now. Captain America hasn't managed to kick the Harry Potter film off its perch over here in England, but then HP has gone all out to promote itself. There have been programmes showing the making of the film and backstage interviews, etc. As for publicity for CA we haven't heard so much as a murmur from the main stars, no interviews etc. There are so many kids films being released at the moment that it really will fight for bums on seats without promotion. All the kids are on their summer holidays and so their parents are likely to take them to those films that are publicised the most. Is there much publicity over in the USA for CA?(Besides the premiere in LA).
