Is it Literary or Intelligence Crush? + Game of Thrones Ep 1 Review + New Richard Armitage Strike Back Pix + NYTimes Says Women Not Interested in THE HOBBIT..Wrong again! + World Gearing Up for Nuptials Celebration

A fascinating article asserting women are often attracted to less physically attractive writers due to what they call a "primal literary crush."  Do you agree with them?  IMO, women can be strongly attracted to the most sensual organ - the brain.  Wouldn't that explain why female beauties find themselves sexually attracted to an otherwise unattractive male, whose intelligence cancels out any consideration of his visual appearance?  Begs this question as well - what's the effect when a male is both physically and mentally alluring? hahaha  You are looking at one of the results.  Sane women stumble around mumbling "I don't know what's happened to me...need to start a blog, like a fangurl, when I've ignored all males other than my significant other for over a decade."  :)   Interesting read...

Next two are first the article where a NYTimes reporter stated Martin writes for boy - then second which is one woman's defense of our interest in The Hobbit.

It's a game of thrones world today - articles, websites, tv ads, twitter links including the following - yummy baconalia recipes:  http://innatthecrossroads.wordpress.com/

Detective Musa found this video - it's the Hubbards, casting directors for THE HOBBIT, explaining the process during what sounds like an interview in Spain..

Sir Guy:  "Ooops..forgot I'd rather build a home than burn one...she'll make certain I pay bigtime for this one.."

Very interesting read about directors cuts.  It includes comments on LOTR: Return of The King (4hrs long..Yikes!)
Although,  four hours of Thorin would seem too brief for us:)

That clueless liberal rag The New York Times (unbiased journalism..HA!...they don't know the meaning of those words) has in the past 48hrs proven how wrongheaded they are - not only politically - also in their literary pages where they assume they know the reading preferences of women.
Yesterday an article published in that newspaper stated that women do not care for The Hobbit.  Today they compound their ignorance by stating GRR Martin writes for boys.  Martin responded to their remark on his journal page by asking why,  if the Times conclusion is correct, are there so many readers with breasts in the waiting lines at book signings for his bestsellers:)  teehee....go get 'em George!

Great fun, respectfully done with amazing lookalikes:

Thanks to Laura we now know what 'cakewrecks' are.  All those with a hobbit theme look good enough to eat--here's my fav & link: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2011/04/lets-go-there-and-back-again.html
I've never seen the following photo of RA prior to today.  It's one of many at an RA Russian fans website. Can anyone identify the woman with him.  Is she one of the organizers of the event?  It's identified as the 2005 Children in Need Celebrity Dinner.
One of The Song of Ice and Fire - Game of Thrones websites today has the opening lyrics from a broadway show as their theme for this weekend..."the sun will come up tomorrow."  First episode of HBO's new series starts Sunday evening starring Sean Bean as Ned Stark, Lord of Winterfell...
If you're not yet convinced Sean will be worth watching in Game of Thrones, take a look at the following pic.  As a member of the LOTR cast, Sean's fellowship tattoo is visible..

Hey, RiCrAr... got a site for you. I'm a "wreckporter", and faithful henchgirl of "CakeWrecks" ("where professional cakes go horribly, hilariously, wrong"). Jen, the Head Wreckie, always does "Sunday Sweets" to restore our faith in the good cake decorators out there. Well, today, SAturday, she's doing a double-header. Today's theme? THE HOBBIT, in honor of Peter Jackson's first Video Blog from the Set. Thought you'd like to see the cakes - they're pretty awesome. Lots of Bilbo... alas, no Thorin, yet... but they're still impressive: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2011/04/lets-go-there-and-back-again.html

Thanks for the link Laura. I'll check out the wrecked cakes:)

Very wet/windy day here -- we should have fields of May flowers after all this soaking rain. After reaching the high 70s this past week, temps have plummented again. Spring has not yet permanently sprung.

Hope there's sunshine where you are..enjoy your wkend.

Wet and windy for me too today :)

How does the Russian site always find these photos of RA that no one else has? What is their secret? But it's lovely that they share :)

The promo pics of RA for Stike Back are fantastic - Lordy!

A female GoT fan (also a Hobbit fan) wrote a sort of rebuttal to the NYT article:

AAK! It was 85 last Sunday, and yesterday it snowed here! When I got up, it looked like a blizzard out there!! My little boy was thrilled, and headed to the garage for his sled before I pointed out to him that there was only about 1/2" on the ground, and it was going to be melted by 10 AM!

Love the new pics... the windswept one is especially yummy.

Not seen that piccy of Richard before. It was obviously taken when Richard was into his necklace phase. A few years ago he used to have some really interesting necklaces around his neck (well where else would they be - don't answer that!)

Don't know who the lady is posing with Richard, but she's got one hell of a cleavage!

Ricrar...need Idiot-techi-help:
Got onto russian RA site, but how do you get the diddy photos bigger? Tried clicking on allsorts...no joy.
Help!

Thx for the link Musa.

Sue, the woman w/Richard at the Children in Need event must've been one of the organizers. If she was in show biz as well, you would probably recognize her.

MsG, All I've ever needed to do at that site is click on the smaller pix and they enlarge in another screen. Which pics in particular are you trying to copy? I'll bring a few here and see if you have better luck.

Hi there!
Just popping in to make you jealous: I went to London this past weekend and got to watch the first two episodes of GoT in a special screening at the BAFTA!!!
As if that was not enough, Sean Bean, Mark Addy and Harry Lloyd WERE THERE!!!!!

Also, I went to the theatre the next day and got Matthew Fox's autograph.

Not bad for one weekend, huh?

RiCrAr,

Yes, I agree, I don't think the woman in the pic was Richard's companion for the evening (or girlfriend). She may well have been to do with the organising part of the even, although she could well be famous and I wouldn't know it! I don't really keep up with things like that, and to be honest I'm not all that fussed if they are famous - unless it's RA of course!

BEG, I'm green with envy -- you lucky woman! :) Sounds as though you had a real blast in London.

The first ep of Game of Thrones was great entertainment. Looking forward to ep2.

Sue, isn't it amazing how that Russian website constantly manages to find obscure pix of Richard. Beginning to suspect there's a black market....shhhh, mums the word;) we don't want them to stop, do we.

RiCrAr,

Interesting that Amanda Mealing has had a love scene (with Richard?). If she's anything like the character she plays in Holby she'll eat John Porter for breakfast and spit out the bones! (But what a way to go for John Porter!)

Ricrar said...

Sue, is there more recent evidence Amanda was definitely referring to Richard? There seemed to be some confusion whether she meant she did her first love scene w/Porter or perhaps one of the other new Strike Back leads.

MsG68 said...

Thanks for replying to my idiot-tech query!
Was just trying to enlarge any of them and had no success? Thought it was me...but beginning to suspect it's my Mac...altho it could be my ISP I've heard.
Google maps and BBC iplayer also not working. So, will keep trying to figure out the problem.
Thanks again!

Sue said...

RiCrAr,

I've no idea who Amanda Mealing is acting out a love scene with, perhaps it could be the new Australian actor they are introducing to Strike Back. I think John Porter may well spend most of his time in an Iranian jail in this series (or something similar). Hope they don't kill him off altogether though!(Just put him on a gentle simmer!)

MsG68, hubby is my techie nerd, so can't be much help with advice, other than what I've observed. Whenever programs stopped functioning on mine, he'd reinstall the initial program received when the unit was purchased. Of course, you'll need to make sure you have backup for any files created in the meantime - then reinstall them as well.

Sue, you're suggestion sounds plausible that Porter might be put on hold for most of SB2. The recent interview comments that Richard was indeed in So Africa beg the question - how long could he have afforded to be away from NZ in March? Probably only a couple wks at the most. If that reflects the size of his contribution to the new series, afraid we'll be sorely disappointed in the lack of JP:(
Might he be scheduled for more SB2 work during the hobbit summer break? Hope so.
