well hello, beefed up quite a bit.. if you look at the pics from (what I assume is) episode 1 and later ones..
makes sense tho, the JP at the beginning of the novel is a skinny, toothless, street-wandering alcoholic - can't have him look too much like gorgeous Mr. A
still, turned into quite a man-mountain :D
GAWD I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

TTN, Richard's remark that the screenwriters' did not include the 'alcoholic' aspect of Porter, makes me wonder whether they'll portray him as the 'in the gutter' John of the novel. Porter's two missing teeth are in the back of his mouth(as a result of some very imaginative writing by Chris Ryan...they don't disappear until almost the end of the story) Don't remember any mention of Porter missing a front tooth, do you?

Since RA accepted the SB role, I've noticed lectures by those who seem to assume men like Porter engage in warfare as a lark, which is really a ridiculous and incorrect interpretation of their motivations. #1 - the West is merely reacting to those who deliberately started a war against all of us & our values. That's why it's difficult for me to take seriously those who feel it's necessary for them to 'preach' about the ugliness of war(as if everyone doesn't already know that) and it's fallout on human emotions. The writers attitude tends to be a naive, narrow-minded, liberal one toward global military conflict in general. They refuse to acknowledge the simple truth that self defense is necessary, or place blame where it squarely belongs - on the shoulders of those who attacked innocent people for not sharing their radical religious beliefs. Most confusing about this mistaken attitude on the part of certain westerners, is the fact the criticisms are usually levelled at the warriors - those who have the courage and are today defending the basic womens' rights(among others) that are being trampled daily by the lunatic jihadists.

Thanks for listening:) Just read one of those anti-warfare rants that completely ignores the fact westerners did not attack anyone - they're simply defending the innocent from those who did.
Oh, and yessssss, RA certainly did beef up for the role. He seems to thrive on physical activity - sound mind in a sound body.*sigh*
We've already started to drool in anticipation;)
