My cousin is supposed to fly from Halifax NS to Helsinki on Apr 24...so far he is still going...but of course mother nature may have other ideas...yikes

Heard reports earlier today that some airlines have sent trial flights into the skies, in order to convince the powers that be that it's now safe to fly.
Must be a real pain in the bum for travellers. haha...never seems like I'm swearing when using that word, BUT would never not use my usual a$$ for our posterior slang word. More etymology trivia...the excitement never stops in that department;)

@ricrar - I would say the situation for travellers is a pain in the ASH - sorry couldn't resist!

RiCrAr,

I think we may have spoken too soon. By all accounts the volcanic ash is heading straight for blighty! I thought the problems may be over by the time my family fly over (hopefully) from Perth in Australia, but there may be the chance that this could go on for another few weeks or more. I hope not for my relatives sakes. They are professional dancers and are due to do a couple of gigs in London and Blackpool! It's chaos over here as flights cannot take off or land and the Dunkirk spirit may yet be revived! The Royal Navy may yet be brought into play! What a nightmare! I certainly hope Richard isn't stranded anywhere while filming Spooks abroad. (Now wouldn't that make an interesting thread "what would you do if marooned on an island with the delicious Richard?". Somehow I don't think we'd be in any hurry to grab the next available flight do you? Not unless you've ice running through you veins!)

Hi there Sue, Yes..did hear the latest news that the #%@& volcano spewed a new cloud of ash. Amazing this hasn't happened before, isn't it?

Hope your family gets where it needs to go...Blackpool is a seaside resort in Lancashire? correct me if that's wrong. Wasn't that the location for the movie 'The Crying Game' some years back?

hmmmm...stranded on a deserted island with RA - well, we'd just need to position armed guards to scare away any ship or plane that might have the bad judgment to try to 'rescue' us;)...am I right? And no one ever gets voted off the island, UNLESS he focuses on a favorite. In that case - off she goes ASAP;)

Sue, see the latest poll - thanks for the idea.

Ricrar,

Yes Blackpool is a seaside resort. They are appearing at the Tower Ballroom (they are ballroom dancers) and I hope to watch them in action all being well (I love dancing but have two left feet myself). I think it may well be a bit of a culture shock for them. Blackpool isn't the sort of resort it used to be. They are hoping to open a dance studio and live over here permanently, if they ever manage to get a plane over!!!

Love the new poll about being marooned on a desert island with RA. I think one of my options would be to hide his speedos and clothes (oh what bliss!). I chose to get the other women kidnapped off the island by the way, otherwise Richard would be a very tired man indeed! (And we wouldn't want that would we?)
