New Lucas vid 'Breaking' by Marian..

Great laugh of the day and, if RA has seen it, you know he enjoyed a hardy chuckle as well.  The following pics say it all(sort of ;)  Photos from London newspaper of post '24 Hour Plays' activities. Could prompt the question 'just how much did RA enjoy the post event party anyway?'  *wink, wink*

Posted on Twitter about RA's play...
>The first play was the most amusing and the audience was immediately responsive- in some instances the characters were cast as themselves with tongue and cheek allusions to their public personas. In this sketch Richard Armitage played the counter part to his on stage character, an obese forty year old man living in a run down apartment who had wished on a magic Christmas tree that he looked like Richard Armitage. Married to a well-rounded woman who had wished them into a large penthouse (suggested by the size of the small Christmas tree which had once been life-size in their ‘previous’ flat), this unlikely couple dance around and frolic with a new found zest. Each actor is asked to bring an inspirational prop, hence the appearance of a premature ornamental Christmas tree. Such clever gestures exemplified the creativity of the writers, some of which were more interesting than others.<

700 would-be hobbits lined up for tryouts...are all the females RA fans;)

Hobbiton is being restored...trees planted...plans for additional hobbit holes...Oh, the excitement of it all:)

Let it Rock! (by Kitsunify) How similar will Thorin look to this Guy?

Game of Thrones:  Mark Addy was interviewed recently in the York Press where he talks about his role in Game of Thrones. He confirms that he has finished filming and also mentions that he has heard they plan to start airing the show in April. Here is what he has to say about his role:

“I’m playing King Robert Baratheon, who has assumed power through a rebellion against the former regime – and in this game of thrones you either win or die.

“They’re pretty good stories actually. It’s a bit like Tolkien, but with sex and violence…there’s something for everyone!
“Not so much the sex for me, but there’s a little bit of violence. He’s not your standard idea of what a king would be. He’s stuck in a loveless marriage and having to make decisions he doesn’t want to. He once wanted to sit on the throne but now it’s not the bed of roses he might have wished, as he’s surrounded by enemies everywhere – and he’s a bit of a grump, which is different from what I usually play.”

Wk #1 for new to the US show 'Skating w/the Stars'.  Only one competitor worth watching(meant in the kindest sense of the words;) and that's Olympic gold medal winner Jonny Moseley.  He was a champion moguls skier but never ice skated until  5wks ago.  Couple interesting remarks he made during rehearsals were first that his skiing skills are exactly opposite to those necessary for ice skating and second - he's never afraid he might fall on the slopes, but terrified of it on ice. The mohawk hairstyle does absolutely nothing for him...hope he jetizons that aspect of his routine next wk...the leather is kinda nice;)

LOL!! I don't think I would apply to be in the movie. The last thing RA needs is to be bothered inside/while filming. I think I would wait outside to see if I can get an autograph though.

OML :)

Looking at their specs, I'm slightly too tall for a hobbit! I'm holding out for the M-E dwarf woman extra casting call :)

Ricrar said...

Poll results on hobbit casting call are 50%-50% at the moment. If time permitted and I'd lived in NZ would give it a go - could be quite an adventure.

Musa, Tolkien described his female dwarves w/beards...just saying;) you might want to reconsider. *grins*

p.s. RA fans should organize a cruise to NZ sometime during the 2011-13 timeframe. Wouldn't that be a blast?
Starting with LOTR movie they've had heavy tourism to those movie location sites.

My question is. Will the auditions be held in Gisborne, NZ?

Ricrar said...

There's a Gisborne, NZ, Katarina? How appropriate is that? Is your mental image of Thorin a Sir Guy lookalike possibly w/short beard?

IMO, director Jackson wants to preserve the eye candy factor for Thorin and perhaps one other character - mimicing his formula for the blockbuster LOTR.

I've finally watched almost the entire LOTR and had a new appreciation for hobbits, dwarves, sexy hero types, etc, Viggo cut a dashing masculine figure, however once an equally rivetting voice, plus eyes as piercing as Droddo's? are added to the mix for one particular character - it should be deliciously stunning to behold.

Yes RiCrAr,
There is a Gisborne, NZ. Was looking at a map of the world the other day and I couldn't help but smile when I saw that familiar name on the map. And to think it's located in NZ, spookey!
Can't say I am into the JRR Tolkiens sagas. Me I love AA Milne esp. Eeyore.Don't know if Christopher Robin is Tall Dark and Handsome, but those sagas are more my kind of stories. Well, I read other authors too. More grown up stuff.

Cruise to NZ? Must start my RA Travel Savings account. Trip to London to see The Rover (maybe). Must start saving today :)

Happy Thanksgiving RicRAr and everyone who is celebrating the holiday tomorrow.

Ricrar said...

Lovable Winnie the Pooh & Eeyore..read everyone of those stories numerous times to our son and my niece. They're adorable.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well Musa:) Hope your turkey is golden and pumpkin pie baked to perfection.

Good to hear plans for The Rover have not been abandoned. Can't imagine how RA will manage to fit it into his schedule BUT workaholic that he is - if he can't juggle the timeline, no one can.

Musa said...

Thanks for posting the vid of RA getting on the bus. Hate to state the obvious, but he looks incredibly handsome doesn't he?

I don't know what the status of The Rover is really, but I haven't seen any confirmation that it's been abandoned. There's always hope.

Re bus vid: Thanks for posting it. I feel kinda bad for him, the people were so close with cameras practically in his face, one of them 'flashed' him very close and still he kept the smile...

Re: bus video. At least Richard wasn't afraid to mingle with the great unwashed, unlike John Cleese who ended up having to hitch a ride in a police car after someone drove off in the car booked for him!(He's a supercillious old fart anyhow). PS: Did you notice the blonde Richard was talking to as he got on the bus? Methinks Annabel got another outing!

Ricrar said...

Hi Musa, OML & Sue,

Guests have departed..tummy is filled w/turkey & trimmings - Need to take a long hike tomorrow:)

Methinks RA might be accustomed to cameras in his face. He probably has had the most extreme closeups of any actor to date:) Yes, he was really gracious to those asking for autographs, etc.

Supercillious old fart...haha..such eloquence, Sue;) Richard can give the majority of entertainers lessons in being lovely & natural w/adoring fans. If he gets anymore thoughtful & kind w/the public, I will start worry he might be about to enter a monastery. *grins*

Musa & I found an explanation of the origins of the surname Armitage. It's derived from the French word l'(h)ermitage - a monk's living quarters.

Annabel on the bus with RA? Why wouldn't he sit next to her instead of the fan who reported contact with the thunder thighs next to her? There's a photo of him at the party surrounded by 3females. I'll post it above and we can try to determine if Annabel was one of them.

He is predisposed then!:O Hehe...
He was veery gracious indeed. I guess I got too 'worried' because I hate flashes myself.

RiCrAr,

The bus would be extremely crowded, so he would have to take a seat where he could, perhaps even on the back seat of the bus, where he may have been a thorn between two roses (or should that be a rose between two thorns?)I wouldn't have minded sitting on his lap, never mind rubbing next to those thunder thighs!(which seem to have shrunk quite a bit lately).I wonder why he chose to ride on the bus with the masses? Surely the Old Vic would have laid on separate transport for the actors/directors/writers?

Ricrar said...

Good point Sue. Did RA notice those fans buying the premium tickets would be riding on the shuttle bus to the party? Was it a deliberate show of appreciation for them?

Couldn't help but have the following thought when the fan reported he'd sat w/her - "Richard's antenna can detect one of his fans a mile away - he makes certain they're not offended in any way."

Perhaps he felt that those performers accepting 'special treatment' in transportation(like Cleese) appear too damn precious in the public's eyes.

Sue said...

RiCrAr,

I agree about the "special treatment" re transport. I know these people are giving up their precious time to take part, but any extra expenses mean that there is less money in the pot at the end of the day. Probably it was a bit chaotic when everyone was going on to the after show party, so he just thought "oh sod it, I'll hitch a ride on the shuttle bus". As for fans surrounding John Cleese (hence his apparent need for police protection?) I doubt if anyone was trying to frantically rip his trousers off! (Yuk, perish the thought!)

Ricrar said...

Teehee Sue - you could give Jackie Collins some competition in the sizzling writing category:)

Cleese was probably hoping the police car would attract more attention than he was actually receiving from the public:) It's been many yrs, at least here, since he garnered much attention..when he did it was as a comedian - never viewed as even remotely hot.
