While checking for a UK news headline from at least a year ago, possibly two, came upon an eerily similar headline from the past few days. Although, vaguely remember the past news report was not nearly as serious as this one...don't believe the young man was a traitor. ..could be wrong...Will continue to search. In comments below there's a discussion re Spooks 9's possible plot. Will it sound anything like these recent authentic reports...

Lots for the Spooks writers to work with in the computer geek story. Hope not Tariq - maybe he's set up by someone and found innocent at the end :) I can also see some MI-5 and MI-6 rivalry and backstabbing taking place in the plot. The writer's have enough in the news for a series 11. Musa, I'd no idea about the recent IT geek spook headline when I started searching for a similar story from at least a year ago. What a surprise to see the latest news article.
Of course, the crazed wikileaks owner is another one of those twisted individuals who don't mind endangering the lives of those working tirelessly to prevent innocents from more terrorist attacks, etc. It's almost as if their brains are wired backwards - they value nothing other than their own pitiful & selfish political goals.
If the Spooks9 plot revolves around Lucas's recruitment as a student by MI5, what might've happened between the time he vanished and his imprisonment in Russia? Was he initially involved with a radical political group prior to recruitment? Did Harry know of LN's earlier activities & was that the reason he didn't work more diligently to gain his freedom? :) Inquiring minds are dying of curiosity.
Where is RA by the way? Should we send out a search party for Richard? Are they still filming Spooks 9?
Since they bring back his first love this next season, I'm assuming his "secret past" has something to do with her? I recently listened to an interview with Laila Rouass and she mentions the relationship with Lucas is very passionate. Passion with Richard Armitage, what a job and how do I apply! But with Spooks you never know of course. I'm intrigued by all RA has said in interviews about Lucas in the new season. Less action for Lucas also? I think you're idea of Lucas being in a radical group when young is intriguing. Who recruited him, was it Harry? I hope beautiful Lucas is not a double agent.
Musa, the 'radical youth' idea was mentioned in a comment below by Sue. I was trying to assemble all the different ideas mentioned in one post.
RA is probably making as many voiceovers as possible and...might he currently be here in the US, as promised? If so, why keep it quiet?
Hopefully he's also enjoying some R&R...restoring his dramatic energy for the upcoming 10eps of SB2. No doubt expending all that professional passion leaves the person ready to charge their batteries in other types of human pursuits.
p.s. maybe he's learning to swim underwater...scuba diving in some exotic location;) Can't you picture him now walking out of the beautiful turquoise water unto the pastel colored beach wearing nothing but a brief....errr...oops, that was James Bond. hehe
