Afternoon, Ricrar! How are you?

Re: Latest Poll. Oh, Arthur, please! Please let him play Arthur!!!!! :) :)

BTW, I have a new short story of possible interest. It takes a new female angle on the whole modernist spy action hero thing :) :) A female 007, if you will. You might like it! http://patriciajwoods.blogspot.com/2013/06/cleopatra-of-berber-mountains-modernist.html

Hey there Cleo,
Thx for the link - you certainly are a busy woman.

The former king for a day" poll was indeed inspired by Arthur. We watched the Clive Owen version last night. Have you seen it? Hubby also expressed an idea he'd like to transmit to Game of Throne's writer Geo Martin - he believes viewers of that HBO series would enjoy seeing King Arthur make an appearance in the next season. Told him it's the fantasy genre, so all things are possible.

Latter reason is probably why that genre is down my list of reading choices. I have a veracious appetite for consuming history textbooks.

Who needs dragons when we've already had human monsters(Hitler,9/11 terrorists, etc) or fantasy princesses when we can read the history of Celtic queens (or Grace Kelly of Monaco for that matter;)

BTW, if you enjoy the War of Roses period of history, the Starz network and BBC America have collaborated on one called 'The White Queen' which starts Aug 10.

Oh, my goodness, Ricrar. What wouldn't I give to see RA as King Arthur -- ANYWHERE!!!! Wouldn't that be a sight for sore eyes. I don't mind the fantasy (as you know). Just make it a mythic, "Arthur-like" figure. Call him Ara (there was a real Ara legend in Armenia, did you know?). Or you could just call him Tristan and make my day entirely!

I saw a picture of RA recently that was very intriguing. I don't know if it was effects put on the photo afterward, or optical illusion, but it looked like there was a dash of blue eyeliner right under one eye. It was GORGEOUS. I think he should do it as a thing. He can be like the Tuareg. (I just mentioned them in a story I wrote, which is why I think of it.) Very, very sexy. The whole tribal thing. Other end of the Mediterranean from my usual Persian fixation, but there you go.

Cheers, Ricrar! Hope you had a great weekend!

Thanks Cleo, it was a wonderful wkend.

As for RA eyeliner - was he in character in that photo? Hope so;) He did wear it fairly heavy as Guy of Gisborne in first series of Robin Hood. Believe it was lighter for 2 & 3. That might be when the term 'Guyliner' started for general public.*snort* haha I know it did for his fans.

Actors are indeed a breed apart but I prefer to see eyeliner on women only(altho I do understand makeup can sometimes have a necessary effect)...and bulging biceps on men only:D
G'nite...hope the upcoming week treats you well.

Good evening, Ricrar! Thank you for the well-wishes! :) :)

He was not in character in the photo I saw, which is why it may have been an optical illusion. It may have been the photo running a bit, or something, making a dash of blue appear below one eye. But I have seen tribal men wear eyeliner like that, just a dash below the center of the eye, not all the way across. It is a pretty powerful look, I have to say! :) :) Maybe RA could use it some time if he plays a tribal King. Now, I would watch that! :) :)

Cheers, Ricrar! Happy week to you as well.

Hello,

Thanks for the very clear screencap of Thorin in the DOS trailer.

King Arthur in GoT? Anything is possible :)

Ricrar said...

Cleo, if a miracle occurs and Richard plays the role of Euron Greyjoy in GoT, it's almost a given that character would wear eyeliner. He's a dark pirate with a commanding presence--sort of like Guy but in Westeros instead of Sherwood.

Hi Musa, the screencap was taken by a very speedy RA fan on twitter. It was rather dark, so I did lighten it a bit in order that Thorin's baby blues were clear.

Love the new shots from Smaug. What a name, BTW. Horrible. Just exudes grossness.

Any chances of a new poll on best spots for the next Hobbit opening?? I vote for South Beach!!!! It's got a certain very fun energy. You can still feel Bogart and all of those folks there. They've left up all of the old Deco architecture, which makes the place have a really special energy. I think it would be awesome! Plus, you could get some really great people to do a little mini-concert for the opening -- Miami has some real heavy hitters, as you know. It would be very fun!!!! :) :) :)

P.S. Ricrar -- re: eyeliner. I am so glad to hear that!!! I must say, Sir Guy with the dark eyeliner was nothing short of HOT. (I would underline that if I could.) Let it be cobalt blue eyeliner just below the center of his eyes this time! Oh, man. The world would never be the same!

Ricrar said...

Cleo, your enthusiasm for a man to wear colbalt blue eyeliner is unique;D The only way that would be possible for hubby is if he were dead. haha Altho', I did ask him to hold my *floral* handbag recently while we were shopping and then remarked what a courageous man he was to do so. The fact he's kissed the blarney stone twice became apparent in his adorable reply. He said "no one would ever suspect I'm effeminate - I'm with you!" *whimper* Now you know why he's been a keeper - I've been blessed and I know it:)

Yes, I'll add a poll asking new premiere location preferences including Miami. In fact, we'll be leaving in a few days on our annual trip to a NC beach - I'm grateful for any new poll ideas to post before my departure. Have found that vaca week gives me an opportunity to catch up with family and reading, so it will be internet free. However, one week is def my limit for such an information deprived situation.

Thank you so much for the new poll, Ricrar!!! It is wonderful! I hope they choose Miami, and even better, South Beach!

Not usually the fan of men with eyeliner, but I must say, that little smudge in the photo under one eye looked awfully HOT on RA :) :). No aspersions on him at all!!! :) :) Let him wear it, PLEASE!!! :) :)

Can't wait to hear about the opening. Maybe they could do PARIS AND MIAMI. Wouldn't that be awesome? That way, they could take care of Europe and the States, both in relatively unconventional opening places!! :) :) Just a thought :) :). And they could send me a ticket for me and my daughter :) :) :)

Been out sick since last Thurs. Actually spent a couple days in the hospital, but we've got it all sorted! Am enjoying catching up on RA news again. I see on Richard Armitage France that the fans there want a Paris opening...hence the idea.... Paris and Miami -- it's pretty HOT!!! :) :)

Cheers!

The series of the White Queen has just started over here in England. I must admit I was a bit disappointed by it. Lots of supernatural connotations, but not much actual history involved. Maybe it will improve over time, but somehow I doubt it.
