New Robin Hood Movie: You're the Casting Director (see poll)

If you were the casting director, which of the following would you choose to play the lead roles in a new Robin Hood movie?...

I'm sorry, no offence to two excellent Australian actors, but neither Russel Crowe nor Cate do anything for me in this story. Aren't they both too old?

I read this week that Russel got riled because an interviewer meant his accent was more Irish than Nottingham, and walked out of the interview.

Morning Enrich, Yes - I've read a couple reports about that particular Crowe interview. One article actually asked a few Nottingham natives their opinion of the actor's Robin accent and they stated it was very good. Methinks entertainment reporters are not very fond of Russell because he's not a 'kiss up' type of person--doesn't stroke their egos enough. Reporters have ridiculed several actors in the same way over the past few yrs. One of hubby's fav truisms is 'it's not wise to pick a fight with those who buy ink by the barrel.

The same reporters would never criticize Sean Penn for engratiating himself to Venezuela's dictator Hugo Chavez, but they'll persecute unmercifully those who don't conform to their politically correct world view. Whenever an actor/actress seems to be consistently given a black eye in articles, it's smart to ask ourselves if s/he has been targeted for daring to make a film or take a political stand that's not the one subscribed to by the vast majority of Hollywood types?

Very funny interview with Russell Crowe - Good on you, Russell!

Actually, I'd like to see Richard and Cate together in a production. Haven't yet seen the new Robin Hood, but Ms. Blanchett is an accomplished actress, and it would be surprising if, in the right production, the interaction would not be interesting.

Very fond of Lucy, though. Hope the career is going well!

fitzg, the comedian host of one of our late night shows, Craig Ferguson(born Scotland-now a naturalized American), has mentioned Cate Blanchett several times. Whenever he does, he'll point a finger to his throat and state that's her habitual trademark during a performance. I didn't notice anything unusual, other than a fine performance, when she played Eliz I in 'The Golden Years' film.

Craig lives up to his tag 'comic' while simultaneously making devilishly cutting-edge-sharp remarks on almost every topic under the sun. He comments almost daily on Twitter under the name CraigyFerg. Today's his birthday--I tweeted a natal greeting by referring to him as 'CrazyFerg' :) His daily tweet included an expletive(unusual) over his age - therefore said in my message to him that I hope someone bought him a dictionary/thesaurus as a gift;) He'd be amused if he actually read it among his almost 90,000 followers.

A cousin who trolls the net sent me a couple of Ferguson comedy vids - they were hysterical! Love the irreverent, sometimes mordant, Scottish humour -fan of Cate's I might be, but I don't do untouchable "icons". All humour, if not mean-spirited, is good for the soul. And for the subject of the humour, do you think?

Could even find poke a bit of fun at RA performances, but SFR does it nicely!

fitzg, I've posted a vid of Crowe's recent appearance on Ferguson's show. He actually told a story about Cate Blanchett that you'll enjoy.

Thank you for posting those Crowe/Ferguson vids. Mr. Crowe is certainly a match for Craig - they bounce off each other beautifully. And Russell is a funny teddy bear, indeed.

I've just heard on my local radio news here in England that Jonas Armstrong (AKA Robin Hood) has been found guilty of being drunk and disorderly at Lytham St. Annes in Blackpool. He was fined £100 with £80 costs. Here's some more info on the following link:

Just imagine if Richard were to do something like that and wake his neighbours up shouting "I am Sir Guy of Gisborne!" or I am the SAS hero John Porter. Now I would be very disappointed if that were to happen and Richard behaved in such a way. Maybe he's better off being a DIY stay at home geek after all? Mind you thinking about it I'd probably drag him in by his short and curlies, wouldn't you girls?
