Strike Back Premiere Photos: Thank You Enrich2

Pics of today's Strike Back Premiere are available on various UK event sites...a sampling...Richard looks very relaxed, as though he's finally comfortable on the red carpet - and well he should be as the star.

Richard's cowlick is behaving rather well, isn't it...altho' striving mightily to stand at attention - afterall RA's character is military;)

Some of the splendid Sky1 imagery for Strike Back - our guy is front & center.

Pics on the Orange County Register, Florida website.  Never realized they were so internationally tuned into show biz...   http://topics.ocregister.com/photo/05Qh7njaiZ6Jq
RA looks as though he's trying to wrap his arms around the entire cast...
OMG, the following is absolutely hilarious.  The floridatoday.com website picked up the Strike Back premiere photos and has combined them with news stories about the US's RA who worked for years in the State Department.  The latter became involved in a controversial political situation that dragged on forever as one side tried to gain a political propaganda advantage on their opponents - welcome to the current cut-throat world of American politics(although I've noticed that UK politics is equally as hard nosed. Voters on both sides of the pond need to be extremely wary of the political class--they're power hungry egotists, and we the people are the ones who usually end up with the short end of the political stick)  Anyway,  the website apparently strives to give you everything you'd ever want to know on the individual in the news report.  In this case they've combined both Richard Armitages - the only thing they physically have in common is their thin-air stature.  The US Armitage is 6'6" tall...enjoy the chuckle when you see the mish-mash of topics & gorgeous RA's youtube vids...

Has anyone else noticed that the creators of this updated SB trailer were too clever by half.  Watch and listen closely, when you hear the actor bellow "Do No F___ with the Big Boys!" pay close attention to the scene that immediately flickers across the screen.  It's Porter's hot scene w/Danni, including leg action - might need to watch it about 10Xs, at least :)

tyme 4 tea, check the latest link to the post above - a Florida website picked up the Strike Back photos and combined them with the American Richard Armitage (State Dept diplomat). They've sexy RA's you tube videos combined with headllines about a political dogfight between both US political parties. Unbelievable:)

ROFL - this is hysterical!

I wonder if "actor" RA would have to change his name if he did move to the States to make a living to avoid being mixed up with the politico RA - Richie just doesn't work for "our" RA...lol

Thanks again for the pics with the specs - I just have this thing with guys in glasses & not just with RA - Matthew Macfadyen for example...love when he has glasses on

I wanna go to London!

OMG. this wait is gonna kill me now.
he looks truly chuffed and at ease, considering that he hates red carpets.. wish I could have been there (not neccessarily for the carpet but for a glimpse at the first episode)
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I don't want to wait any more.

Chuffed indeed TTN...that is equivalent to drop-dead-gorgeous, handsome, hot, isn't it?;)

Some of the photos have the agency's logo stamped across the center of that chuffiest of all actors faces...isn't that a heresy of some sort?...it's definitely a crime against nature - equivalent to desecrating one of nature's wonders. Fortunately there are plenty of unmarked pics for our enjoyment. *sigh*
Sky1 should publish their SB page any day now. They were probably waiting for the premiere.

Ricrar, chuffed is English slang for well pleased. Yes, I think he looks fit and gorgeous! Liked the pics with Andrew Lincoln and the other actors. Would have liked to have seen Jodhi May and Colin Salmon, there, too. What a cast!

Agreed! Steamy scenes in the trailer with Shelley Conn.I hope he's not going to keep his shirt on for all those scenes. Must see more chesticles, *pant, pant*!

Thanks for the explanation of chuffed, TTN. Still working on the last colloquialism that caught my fancy. Discovered the verb mog means to 'plod steadily along' therefore moggie could refer to a cat's graceful, stealthful gait. How does my mind get hung up on such obscure trivia:)
Hastily moving along to a more stirring topic - RA - love the way he takes a foot-forward, strong, confident stance in the glare of clicking cameras. That was probably a key lesson in his professional training.

tyme for tea...If his American namesake proves to be an obstacle, would he switch to Richard C. Armitage?..or perhaps move to the distinguished & attention-grabbing 'Richard Crispin Armitage?'

I'm chuffed you're picking up some British slang. We're so exposed to American culture in Europe that we know or quickly learn most of the American terms.

How about an arch-British one for you?
Richard is such a dishy bloke!

This is something I'm struck by every time I see pics of him.

The last comment doesn't show. Can this be due to Icelandic volcanic ash floating into cyber space and disrupting intercontinental communication, hehe?

Enrich2, chuffed is so similar to chafed that at first my reaction was..ooh, have I committed some sort of international faux pas:) Quickly remembered your definition of 'chuffed' as 'well pleased.' Would you believe the term 'proud as punch' can still be heard in the US when expressing feelings of self satisfaction.

The word 'bloke' is almost always used in the 'States'(first time I've used that collective noun) when describing most things British. Blazing-HOT bloke is my first choice for Richard. Dishy sounds like something about to be devoured...hmmmmm, too early in the day to go there;)

The definition of dishy which can be used of both sexes:attractive especially sexually so.
We used it as teenagers and it's still going strong, though teenagers today prefer "fit" or "hot".

I think Richard looks lovely in these pictures, but rather tired in some of the others from the premiere. I hope he's not overdoing things. Perhaps he should take time out to find/cultivate a relationship. That would energise him no end! I'd be envious of his woman (!!!) but the main thing is for him to be happy and fulfilled both at work and at home.

Enrich2, wouldn't you say RA's high energy level probably already reflects a very satisfactory personal life - he's not about to divulge any of the details for us, which is fine by me. If he someday finds himself in the international spotlight, that will change. There's a price to be paid in exchange for that exclusive level of fame & fortune.

Did you see the GQ(uk writer) review of SB that referred to the leading man as almost unintelligible,,,huh?? (she eloquently remarked;)
What could possibly explain that puzzling assessment? If moi can easily understand RA, naturally everyone over there would as well. Besides, Richard always makes it a point to clearly enunciate. The writer must have an undiagnosed hearing difficulty...not that I'd ever get in a huff when he's criticized. LOL
(Must be a personality trait - Hubby has often stated he likes my loyalty.)

I've noticed the word 'butty' used on another board in reference to a sandwich. That was a 19thC coal mining term meaning the licensed miner's assistant--they probably always carried a cold lunch(butty) to work. Cornish meatpies(another lunch for miners) are still sold here commercially.

In the US, the word butty with common usage (over 1.5 centuries) evolved nationally into 'buddy' meaning 'a friend' or 'pal'.

Perhaps RA has been burning the candle at both ends with keeping his lady-love happy at home and his lady and other fans happy at work! He's certainly making a good job of it as we're very happy with all the work he's turned out over the years!

The GQ reporter might not be an expert on acting at all, but he/she did go on to say that the performances were "stellar", which I take to mean that it was the character rather than the actor himself who was "unintelligible".

I'm a teacher at primary (elementary) school and am interested in etymology, so enjoyed learning about how the word buddy came about.
