After reading the list of nominees, curiosity first led me to find the examples above of the costumes in ‘The Young Victoria’ and secondly searched for info on the animated nominee ‘The Secret of Kells.’ We’ve had the great pleasure of observing in person the astounding beauty of the ancient Book of Kells (over 1000 years old), and also of touring the charming medieval city of Kilkenny, Ireland (home for creators of the animation)

The film 'Invictus' is directed by Clint Eastwood, which should signal 'quality entertainment' to all of us, yet it's not among the best film nominations. It is, however, nominated in other categories. Clint has more intelligence & common sense than most show-business types in Hollywood.

Thank you so much. I've searched for more information on the Book of Kells. Very interesting indeed. It made me even more curious about the Lindisfarne gospel-manuscript, now in possession of the British museum. That's because recently I'm aware that in history many important work or knowledge were often 'rewritten' on purpose. I can't explain way, but the (hidden) message of the winning animation The secret of Kells could be less innocent then people may think. But that ofcourse, is just my "silly" opinion.

Franciska...it looks like a harmless childrens' animation to me. IMO, it's highly doubtful the creators' had anything sinister in mind:)

Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen so far it's really a beautiful animation with a lot of truth in it (much more then you think) and definitely worth seeing. It's a bit difficult to explain what I've meant. You have to dig in some of the other hidden/secret knowledge (like the Sumerian text, deathsea-scrolls, Illuminati, Nephilim-Annunaki-Giants, freemasons knight templar etc.) It's like the 'rewriting' of the old testament and deliberate leaving out the most interesting parts for human mankind ever! That's why I'm so interested in the Lindisfarne manuscript (a book full of knowledge before the book of Kells). What are the resemblances and the differences between them. Who really wrote what and when - maybe by order of someone? Questions questions questions...
So there will be a lot of truth in this kind of legendstories (Brendan who must fight Vikings and a serpent god to find a crystal...), but these films are mostly made from a confusing and not genuine 'background'.
Some interesting comments I've read; 1)I did watch it. The manuscript didn't destroy the vikings... at all... They totally RAPED Kells (as they did in real life) 2) Well technically the Celts originated up near the steps of Russia and came down through eastern europe in over greece and up into france and spain and then to Ireland. The earliest visitors to Ireland were from Greece, where they would mine gold and silver. There are letters from Pliny and even Plato who met the celts. It's very funny. It's like reading about a saturday night drinking session in Dublin. We haven't changed much. :-) 3) Do you remember the stories of giants in ireland? e.g. the Fianna and basically all the people in those times? well apparently they came from Asia originally! XD

Franciska, I'm sorry...really didn't mean to cut your discussion off at the pockets, so to speak. After the interesting details you've provided above I can see your sharp intellectual curiosity at work.
In fact, your descriptions of where certain ancient tribes originated and their migration history is exactly my cup of tea. There are fascinating websites highlighting the different pathways and tracing exactly where sub-species broke off into unique DNA patterns. I'll try to find the most credible site - believe it's by National Geographic or some other highly reliable source.
Didn't mean to insinuate there wasn't wiggle room for further discussion on the manuscripts. In fact, I've been discussing the origins of the bible online for years. Usually hesitate to discuss my conclusions so far, due to the fact many people prefer not to question that sort of thing. To me, it's simply more interesting history about the human race. I'll dig for the DNA-migration website in my deep archive of bookmarks and return:)

Now that we know there are scientists willing to skew their data in order to further their political agenda (global-warming scam comes to mind) I'm far more skeptical about the type of project that follows. It's interesting nonetheless--just necessary to take any grand over-arching conclusions w/a grain of salt. There are definitely scam artists ready to rip off millions of people online researching family history. I've never and will never pay to be included in DNA studies, etc. There's a plethora of free, accurate genealogy info available in church records, census data, marriage applications, etc. That said, both these websites are interesting...

Thank you. I have to admit that you're even more open-minded then I thought. I like that ;). Yes you always have to be careful with bringing delicate issues up. I've always been a straightforward person, so I really had to learn to restrain sometimes. But I have and always will respect the believes (and opinions) of others. IMO that's an indisputable principle. So it's great to know that we've never have to be afraid of offending or hurting each other in case of different opinions.
Your first sentences of your second comment are the most important conviction to open up the next level of understanding this reality we live in. After two years of learning from the knowledge of all kinds of remarkable scientists, cell-biologists, theologians, quantum physicians, historians, writers etc,( just by googl or following their lectures on YT!!!)-I still know just the tip of the iceberg. But one thing I'm sure of though, you have to see EVERYTHING from a bigger picture!!
lol when I saw your comment about 'highly reliable sources' in combination with National Geographic.... They (also)deliberate tell people only parts of the truth- or even lies. But they have some very interesting subjects so I, as well as my kids, watch them often.
But your way of thinking is the best way to search for a answer. Utilize or let in as much information you can (right-wrong-weird-unbelievable-scary)- try to figure things out- do some research- use your intuition- and you'll probably be able to connect the 'dots'.
Tomorrow I'll check your recommended websites. And if you're ready for a "MINDBLOWING ride" I will recommend some very interesting sites/people myself. But I've to warn you though, it can be very addictive, time-consuming,"shocking' and amazing :)

Franciska, I've gone full circle with the 'meaning of life' quest for truth. Started w/Catholic education that I believe instilled the curiosity in the first place. being at the core a defender of all human rights but primarily the underdogs in the historical sense - women - found the church's teaching suspect due to the fact it's been an exclusive mens' club for thousands of yrs. The latter however is also the reason why, if I'd ever have a desire to become active again in one particular religion, it would indeed be the Roman Catholic Church due to it's unbroken chain of history for over 2000 yrs. After researching numerous theories my conclusion is that atheists are even more dogmatic & intolerant about insisting there is no Creator than those who believe the opposite. Decided in the end that the trip of life has more texture and meaning when accompanied by someone who does have strong religious beliefs and even stronger convictions that every individual is entitled to their own opinions & beliefs on that score.
Political decisions when coupled w/the above religious conclusions result in traditional values and scoff at the so-called 'progressive' liberal agendas typified by the climate-change scamsters.
So, even though the bible IMO was written by politically motivated 'discipline of the masses' manipulators, the majority of it does provide good guidelines for living (with a few radical assertions that need to be ignored). The preponderance of it's teaching is to love our fellow humans and be tolerant of their belief systems. While the other famous holy book's contents are the exact opposite. The majority of the Koran (I've read large chunks of it) teaches violence and hatred for the 'infidel' and total subjugation and disrespect for women. We're women & infidels--wouldn't have a prayer in their miserable caliphate:)
I'm open-minded about religion & lack thereof as long as believers are equally as tolerant of my convictions.
p.s. Also believe the Koran as well was written solely by a human being(no divine inspiration) in order to motivate the general Muslim population to defend itself against Crusaders. That's the reason for such violent directives against the infidels. Muhammad decided the written words were necessary to incite Mid-eastern populations into a war-time frenzy to defend their homeland. His complete humiliation of women is the most despicable part of that dogma.
It would be great if humankind would move beyond the need for any religious written words and develop instead individual philosophies for living - but as long as one group of believers strives to enslave the other, my support is with those defending individual human rights - no matter what other beliefs they entertain.
Sorry for keeping you waiting. I've been busy with other things lately. Interesting to read your points of view. It's good to see you've figured it all out before you took your determination of position. Too many people are following or imitating others without any research or thinking of their own. IMO most of the ancient religions have a common (hidden) true message (only other names, figures,symbols, stories etc.) They've been "dishonoured" by the elite and churches, causing a lot of suffering and pain among the common people (war, poverty feeling guilty,etc) Ofcourse I'm aware of the fact that a lot of people derive comfort from religion (as well as communal sense, safety etc.) But I'm not a great fan of the organized, church-related traditional religions. I agree with your remarks about intolerant atheists, the Koran and especially your last remark.
I must say that I believe that there's already a growing new "religion". It is NOT the New Age!!!....that's just another Organized Believe adapting to this new spiritual awakening that's happening all over the world right now ( as predicted by many anchestors like the Hopi, Maya's etc.)
Interesting enough this spiritual believe/aspect of creation is supported by a growing group of scientists (mainly in quantum physics) But maybe that's because they are awakening too ;)
