Definitely a rockin' New Year with this one from bccmee -- don't get literally blown away ;)

Is it morbid or a fine way to memorialize those who lost their lives? Cruise ships are recreating Titanic's itinerary - even dinner menus - for the 100th anniversary on Apr 15, 2012..(see poll)

Message from Richard Armitage, 24th December 2011

Dear All,

So my feet are finally on UK soil, back in Blighty, nose to tail traffic and the usual Heathrow drizzle. But it's good to be home for Christmas. I think the jet lag might give me a sneaky glimpse of Santa this year as I am wide awake at 2am!

It's been one of the most memorable years I have ever experienced, the big birthday (which I tried to ignore, by sleeping through it!) and the privilege to be in NZ working on The Hobbit has make this year unforgettable. The places we have been to and the things we have seen, have surpassed all my expectations. I was very choked up as the plane left Wellington on Weds, it really has become home and to all my new friends there and my old friends here I would like to raise a glass for the festive season.

Thank you for the continuing support which you all lend as part of our community of 'friends', it really has an impact on me personally, I feel very much supported and I hope that waiting for the film isn't too frustrating. I haven't quite had the time to attend to all the signed photos that people were requesting as Christmas gifts for family and friends and I apologise for dissappointing them, I will get on the case as soon as I can.

I think next year will be like that last turn of the corner when you think you have reached the summit, only to find you are miles from the top and the climb is even steeper, but we are gearing up for an exciting ride. I even might step off the treadmill and put my dumb bells down briefly to scoff some turkey on 25th!!

Thank you all for the continued generosity on the Just Giving pages which in total comes to more than £14,000.

I would like to say Happy Christmas to everyone who drops in to catch up on the news and further across our online 'party' of friends, have a great holiday, and a cracking New Year. Just think this time next year, we'll all be crossed eyed from all the 3D movies we will have watched, and by 2013, technology will have advanced so much, we won't even have to go the the cinema, it will be transmitted directly into our imagination by a WIFI/Bluetooth microchip which we will have all had installed into our Hypothalamusesl! (Hypothalami?)

Enjoy the typos!

Peace and goodwill (and I really mean that, be willingly good, extra good, extra peaceful and extra forgiving)

RA

Following fanvids seem very appropriate after reading *willingly* good above...will you make a New Years resolution to be "extra good".*winks* You know who you are out there..is this your prayer *wide grin*

Some have more to ask forgiveness for than others *cough*

DAILY WORKOUT:  New year is almost here, as with most people, I've been pondering what would be a good resolution??...hmmm...hubby and I try to hike (actually more like a vigorous long walk) at least 3Xs per week.  BUT, after all the holiday feasting it feels as though something extra needs to be added in order to work off those holiday goodies.  Perhaps a daily workout is in order - decided to post a new one here each week until we find the perfect daily routine.
Regular workouts are just a matter of finding the right incentive.  See zumba vid in latest post.

You know he's going to read about you mentioning his typo Ricrar!!!!!!!!!

What a lovely way to wake up this morning with that lovely and funny message from RA!

Hope you have done all the Christmas preparations and are now ready to celebrate. Merry Christmas my friend, and Merry Christmas all!

hehe Musa, Richard must've noticed that we dissect his messages for typos - he even remarked about them at the end of the new one. Only thing that stood out was the repeat of, I believe, 'the' near the end. We won't deduct any points for that - considering the plane had just landed in Heathrow at 2am:)

I'm not exactly sure what he means by next year at this time he might have the feeling he's reached the summit - but after turning the corner, will only need to redouble efforts?? Is he referring to filming of the second Hobbit film in 2013?

Thanks, dear friend Musa, for all your comments here and fun elsewhere during the past year. Always enjoy your thoughtful remarks - Hope you have a merry Christmas and a New Year filled with new adventures. *hugs*

Hello Laura and Ricrar! Hello Everybody! Hope you're all having a lovely day and looking forward to a Happy New Year!

Dear Ricrar! Looking forward to more fun next year - thank you my friend!

I also wondered what he meant by reaching the summit, but having to redouble efforts and I don't know if he means continuing to film on The Hobbit or what happens after. Before the movie opens they'll have all the PR for it, and then when it opens, he has to know his life will change, but there's no way he can really know how much or in what way - except more loss of his privacy! So I don't know - but I thought he might be referring to what happens after The Hobbit :)

I wonder how long RA will be home? Will he have time to leave us with a new audiobook, or commercial or doc narration, or...should we hope?

Thanks Laura..I appreciate your lovely sentiment..hope you had the merriest of Christmases and will have the Happiest of New Years!

Good point Musa..about Richard possibly referring to all the promotion he'll be required to do for both hobbit films.

Perhaps when both movies are a wrap and have surpassed the boxoffice for the mega-profit-making LOTR trilogy, he will finally enjoy a relaxing, lonnnnng holiday on Majorca:) Remember his joke during one of the Spooks9 interviews.

2012 is looking brighter by the moment with great looking new productions and, of course, more Hobbit filming adventures.

As RA reminded us in his lovely message - this time next year we'll be cross-eyed from watching Thorin's first movie. *talk about gReAt expectations* seems appropriate to borrow the term from a friend of Mrs Gaskell:)

RiCrAr,

With respect to dissecting Richard's typo's (obviously hasn't managed to discover the spellchecker yet)it occurred to me that he may well be a dab hand at using the qwerty keyboard. It seems that his one typo - where he should have typed "made" instead of "make" is usually when someone types using all ten digits (no not those kind of digits, I mean fingers!) It is quite easy to get left and right muddled and press the "k" key used by the right hand as opposed to "d" typed with the left hand, same digit finger as the right. So am I right and does Richard use all his delectable digits? Or is he simply a two fingered touch typist with talent? (Or maybe he gets mum to type it for him - or she's given him lessons?)Either way his message was very welcome at this time of year and I'm glad he's back on UK soil, if only for a short time.

As for his comments about the "summit". I think he may be referring to nearly finishing the first of the Hobbit movies only to have to start on the second all too soon.

By the way I was watching/listening to a film critic of the latest Christmas release movies. He said that 3D films were likely to be outclassed by the use of imax, which the latest Tom Cruise film has used (Mission Impossible).Gawd knows what imax is 'cos I don't! Personally I don't give a tinker's cuss what they use, it's the content matter that interests me! (And so say all of us I'm sure!)

Hope you had a lovely Christmas, Sue.

As for IMAX..I've never viewed a movie on one but believe it's simply a humungous screen. When they were first introduced here, some of the locations offered dinner while you watched the film. Now that particular feature would get me there if one was convenient. We'd need to travel about 60mi to nearest IMAX theater. Of course, if The Hobbit plays in one - it would be well worth the trip for me.

You've identified another RA typo I'd missed - that makes a total of 3. haha He never disappoints..makes me suspect he might be a hunt & peck typist - both sets of digits are employed but not exactly using the fastest method.

BTW, he has incorrect spelling 'dissapointed' in his sweet message - also has a double "the" towards end. Your "made" instead of *make* brings it to 3 for this year. *chuckles* Makes him even more lovable just when we thought that was impossible.

How sweet of him to take the time to compose his thoughts on Wed and then wait until Christmas Eve to send it to Annette. At this point, he has already reached the summit of his career as far as having the opportunity to prove his acting talents on the worldwide stage. He could've easily decided there simply wasn't enough time in his busy schedule as there had been in the past.
Falling ever deeper here..better stop now while I've not quite drowned in the deep pool of drool.*teehee*

Dear RiCrAr!
I wish You and All a very Happy New Year!:)

Dear Richard!
Haven't we done enough?:)
WE ARE "extra good,extra peaceful"!

Ricrar said...

Happy New Year to you as well Joanna:)

Yes, I'm with you - we've been saints *cough* sort of...well at least we try, don't we? Have to ask ourselves who might tempt us to not be "extra good", don't we?;)

Hope you have a happy, healthy, prosperous & peaceful 2012.

RiCrAr,

Happy Christmas to you too and a happy New Year to come. The weather over here in England isn't very Christmas like and there seems to be an air of gloom this year due to the current economic crisis here.

I believe Richard, being the tease that he is, may deliberately put some typos into his message just to keep us all on our toes! Little minx!

I am pleased to say I received the audio book "Convenient Marriage" and thought his unique characterisations were were wonderful! I particularly liked the ending where Marcus kisses his wife fervently, much to her surprise, and Richard delivers the line as Horatia, with a stammer, exclaiming that she likes his kisses very much indeed!(Who wouldn't!)

I must admit that the content of the story wasn't up to much but Richard more than made up for it with his fantastic range of voices for the characters, which made me laugh all the way through to the end. I'm doubtful that Georgette intended it as a comedy but I certainly enjoyed Richard's interpretation of it! Hope he does another voiceover during his break. They're brilliant!
