>Best of British It was always my intention to add more awards and, after watching the voting over the last few days I knew the time was nigh. The first of which is awarded today
BEST OF BRITISH
Richard Armitage captures every element of the perfect British male.
He´s talented, smart, handsome and has oodles of pure sex appeal.
There will be no Hunkie of the Month next month – stay tuned for further developments.<
The announcement is accompanied by the following pic...
It's a truly lovely gesture by the Hunkess. Another female succumbs to the master's charms:)

Above photo has inspired a poll. Is it one of your fav RA pics? Definitely not one of mine - I'm well aware it's another very subjective human response. There are about 3 pix in the humungous archive of RA photos that always trigger in me an instant 'why does he look so delicate?' reaction. The vast majority of his photos instill an 'hmmm, there's a manly looking bloke' response. Why not the one above? I suspect it was taken during the Lucas hunger strike days when Richard was preparing for LN's first appearance on the grid (after being imprisoned for 8yrs in Russia). Could the undernourished, hollow-cheeked boney face structure at that time compete visually with the fuller more delicious results of all Lucas's ensuing chocolate donut consumption?:)...(see poll) Following is the 'beefed up' example..YUM!

I actually love this pic, the way he's looking directly into the camera, and thus at me with those intense mesmerising slightly enigmatic eyes! Love the stubble and I don't think he looks thin or peaky.
Are you talking about the 2nd pic, enrich? That one is the example of the more beefed up, choc consuming Lucas.
He is hunky thick or thin, but my preference is definitely fuller cheeks. There are a few Lucas7 pix where RA is downright skeletal like. It didn't take long however, once he returned to healthy eating habits, to resume the drop-dead-goregeous look.
Good to see you're still alive & well;) Check latest post for a funny fan spoof of Spooks8. Hope there will be reason for them to create sequels for 9 AND BEYOND:)
No, I mean the first one, the one where you think he looks thin. I love that pic!
Enrich..
Can't explain why, but my reaction is always to think perhaps it was chosen by his mum for inclusion in fan mail:) hahaha It's another subjective item...have learned over the past 2yrs that there are a number of those issues percolating in the RA universe.
The 2nd pic is one of my all time favorites...sizzling hot.
Examples of other interesting issues: the alpha or beta male conundrum - and/or the query: 'Are RA characters sexier w/hand&arms tied to inanimate objects or when they're free to interact if the mood strikes?':) Always interesting to hear other fans opinions & ideas on all of the above. No doubt the give & take helps keep our interest percolating as well.
There's something about RA as Guy of Gisbourne tied to a tree - swoon.
LOL
I also love the first pic. Those eyes are mesmerizing.
I've been on my hols with the family at a cabin with a very dodgy Internet connection. Even my mobile phone seems to have packed up, but it makes for a peaceful existence. I've even become so people-shy, I might bark or even bite at sight of one, except for Lucas, of course!
You're on hols, Enrich and I'll soon be on vaca...English language is starting to shrink into one big abbreviation, isn't it. Not really..many Americans today refer to their 'time away as vaca' -- poet & didn't know it;)
OK, Musa, will retrieve the helpless GoG strapped to tree pics:) if you promise to tell us what activities w/Guy they generate in your imagination. LOL...have to make it worthwhile for me;) teehee
Just joking, but wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts. You never know, maybe I'd be convinced that men without active use of their arms & hands can be more exciting than those ready to...uhh,,engage in a very vigorous wrestling match w/a female;)
Actually, the first pic isn't the one that triggers the strongest...'don't like it' response from me. There's one other that, IMHO, makes RA look about 12yrs old with a syrupy sweet, almost naive expression. Doubt it's even in my album, will need to check the general pool at PB...it's probably available there.
Will post it asap - curious about opinions. I know there are many that believe it's adorable---and that's my reaction to 99.9% of RA's photos, but not the next one I'll be posting.
Forgive my sacrilege here but I only like him as GoG, (and Harry Kennedy has Guy's hair), Ricky Deeming and, of course, the delectable JT. I have pondered what it is about these guises that does it for me? His hair is much better darker rather than his natural brunette, his 5 o'clock shadow makes his jawline stronger and more masculine, the eyeliner sets off his sanpuku irises, and the bushier hair offsets his chin as does JT's cravets.
I am off put by his too smooth body and I don't think he looks good skinny or with slicked back hair. I do find him pretty breataking in Spooks 7, E 1 when he is scruffy and in SB when he is the garage attendant with the mullet. *blush* He does look great in the tailored blue suit in Spooks as well. His best colors are black, blue and green but of course I will take him any way I can! The RH3 Guy with long hair and wide shouldered costume makes me melt and babble incoherently.
Judith,
are you sure you don't want to give the subject more thought? hahaha
You've parsed the RA look to it's utmost and had me right up until...sanpuku irises? huh? I thought Richard was 100% English...hehehe.
Off to look up those irises although I'd much rather be looking into them.
One other item that made my jaw drop - "his too smooth body" :O Wow! Could you post a pic of your DH or significant other, pretty pleassssse:) Obviously you're accustomed to a level of muscle definition beyond Greed God level. Or did you mean absence of chest hair? If so, it's another diff strokes situation. Since becoming taken with Richard, everytime a hairy male chest appears anywhere, my reaction is...ugh! Likey the clear, clean view of rippling muscles...Rwoarrrr!
Sounds as tho' Lucas & JP leave you non-plussed? Have you noticed the recent SB extras pics recently posted here? Richard looks pleasantly involved in conversation, biceps bulging:) appearing oblivious to the camera - which of course his senses instinctively track w/laser beam focus at this point in his career.
Well, sanpuku irises await some research. Maybe there will be an asterisk *see gorgeous actor Richard Armitage:)
judith,
Checked into the rare iris condition you mentioned and now cannot look at an RA pic or vid without noticing whether or not the iris is visible under his eyes. After studying them for awhile, IMHO it's doubtful he has the condition, OR if he does - it's not very pronounced.
Read further information, and came upon what seems to be a common theory that people with those irises tend to be imbalanced. My impression, after listening to or watching almost every interview he's had over the yrs, is that RA has more common sense than the average person & is definitely more emotionally balanced than the vast majority of today's entertainers.
One thing is certain however - my mind will constantly measure the whites under his irises from now on:) You've planted the seed...haha..another excuse to look deep into his eyes. *thud*
I didn't mean sanpuku in a bad way as I think he uses it as an actor's trick to make his character more sympathetic and it certainly has worked on me!! Run your love and former finacee through with a broad sword and I am able to rationalize it, must be those pesky sanpuku eyes. Lady Di, Robert Pattinson, Marilyn Monroe all have (or had) it. I wouldn't put too much stock in the Oriental imbalance theory as macrobiotics would have us all subsist on brown rice and salt as well!
There is a scene in Cold Feet where RA is wearing a denim jacket and offering his girlfriend an engagement ring and his expression (complete with irises) is so compelling I just always want to die!!
I was referring to RA's dearth of chest hair but now I have gone back and looked at Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises and The Indian Runner (strickly for research purposes) and he is pretty hairless as well. I still prefer a bit of chest hair but that is my own aesthetic! I am not a fan of pumped up men, as I like a natural lithe look but once again that is my own preference.
The irises theory is an interesting one, judith. My impression is the # of RA pics with the white of the eye exposed under the iris balances out w/those where his irises are perfectly aligned between lids. When he slightly raises his eyes, more white is instantly exposed - but isn't that true for almost everyone?
As for 'pumped up men,' I agree that an extreme is as much a turn off as chest hair is - for me. There's a point where defined pecs & abs are sensually delicious, but when taken beyond that stage the male quickly becomes a physical caricature. Either RA (& a personal trainer) somehow manage to control the amount of development, or it's simply a matter of mother nature fiddling w/genes, etc.
However, numerous times in the past 2yrs, including the recent hunkies photo collection, I've gazed at men w/similar physical attributes and had a strong 'borred'...nothing reaction.
Conclusion: it's really the total package that makes the difference for RA fans. Many of whom, like me, either ignored all actors for many yrs or had a pattern of being disappointed after a brief interest.
Take an intelligent, charming personality & combine it with above average physical attributes plus potent acting ability - the luscious result is that rare babe magnet for women of discriminating taste. That's us ;) & all the other females who just can't seem to get enough. In any case, once the natural aging process starts to take it's usual effects, there will still be plenty of sex appeal to satisfy our human needs - UNLESS we're looking at another Dorian Grey situation;) haha
Some of the photo's of Richard that appeared on various TV Guides/magazines promoting Strike Back/Spooks had obviously been "touched up" and to be honest it somehow detracts from his usual gorgeous good looks somehow, can't explain it. Who wants a perfect, blemish/wrinkle free Richard face? (Second thoughts, don't answer that!)
