LOVE the new photos, Ricrar, as always!! That Valentine's photo is just SO SWEET.

See what I mean, we really need someone like Oprah, someone who has done so much for women's rights and women's right to LOVE in this world -- someone like Oprah can do justice to interviewing RA :) :) The depth of what he does for women by presenting these real possibilities for what it can mean to be a man (and that that might actually involve a woman, not just the gym, or beer!) is just lost on most other interviewers, I think.... What do you think? :) :)

BTW, newest poll: Guy. Come on. (Although Porter is a pretty hot second.)

:) :)

RiCrAr,

Just a quick update about Richard III.

Apparently some RIII enthusiasts have proposed the following design for his tomb. What do you think?

Please you like the Valentine Cleo. I did vote for John Porter as the king of hearts which reflects my journey with Guy and Lucas over the years. The first was just too damn domineering for my taste - would've found ways to tame that growling tiger if miraculously placed in Marian's shoes. Upon reflection - he might've liked that scenario anyway;D

Then Lucas, after 2 seasons portraying the courageous hero became all angsty with moral equivocation in S9, which was a turnoff. Which leaves steely backboned, man of actor Porter to wear the crown - at least in my dreams.

Must be the only female in the USA who never watched Oprah. I gave it a try a few times and became really bored. How could the wealthiest woman in the nation really relate to the masses? The national media would excoriate her for her wealthy if she was on the opposite side of the political spectrum, however since she's on the far left along with them, she has been almost beatified by them.

Thanks again for your kind words about RA's valentine.

Thanks for the link, Sue.

It's a handsome design for RIII's final resting place, do you agree? Poll participants support the idea of gathering that small family in one place, but it is understandable why the tourist industry prefers to keep them entombed at their original locations.

As of a couple days ago, Richard was busy with the Black Sky director applying the final filming touches to that movie. Here's hoping that means the film will be released within a few mos??

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Morning, Ricrar! Guy was too domineering for me at first, too. But, by the end, he looked to me much more like a pussycat waiting to be loved than a tiger waiting to pounce :) So, I kind of thought that scenario you suggest would be pretty accurate of him (hee, hee).

I suppose Oprah might be controversial. You're right about her being very wealthy. I think it may be her very humble beginnings that make her still appeal to some, although she is certainly a leftie. I thought of her because RA's portrayal of love in so many roles is so loyal and surprising. Maybe it's just to an American context. Who knows, are all British men that devoted to their woman? :)

Valentine's hearts! So sweet.

cleopatraascreenplay said...

P.S. I really like the tomb design. Very beautiful with the cross and flower.

Ricrar said...

"Are all British men that devoted to their woman?"

Well, in my life history there is one English gggrdfather(Methodist church records identified location as Nottinghamshire) who apparently was devoted to my gggm. He made certain to have a gravestone inscribed, within a brief time after her death, with the lovely and moving sentiment "until we meet again."

His gggson, my father, was also devoted to his wife although not without a streak of independence - which is the way she wanted it anyway. Taught me the lesson that being a couple doesn't mean you must be attached at the hip at all times.

The other 3 gggfathers were Irish and they also were responsible family men and loving husbands. Evidently national identity isn't really the best indicator--loyal partners and philanderers can be found in every corner of the globe.

In our lifetime the one famous British relationship that was a tremendous surprise was Diana and Charles. That one has always been a puzzler? Kind and beautiful evidently did nothing for him. Long-distance/time travelling marriage counselor here;D

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Long-distance/time traveling marriage counselor. That is funny :) :)

I'm still on the taming of Sir Guy. That would work for me quite well at close quarters. No long distance for me, thank you! Although...one could be flexible, I suppose, for the likes of Sir Guy. :) :)

Which leads me to ask -- it's 2/13/13. Has the world already ended and I just didn't notice it??

Ricrar said...

Lol..the long distance referred to was comment about Diana/Chas across the pond.

Hope you receive many valentines from secret admirers tomorrow, Cleo, or even better - a loving kiss and warm hug from your daughter.

My valentine bought a bottle of Prosecco wine for us, after I'd mentioned it seemingly out of a clear blue sky;D Will report back to you shortly whether I agree with Richard's latest libation recommendation.

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Enjoy your Prosecco, Ricrar! What a lovely idea for Valentine's Day. I enjoyed your family stories. Very, very sweet and apropos for the holiday!

My daughter and I have exchanged a few little things for Valentine's Day, including a hand-made card, of course. So we are already enjoying a lovely Valentine's. (I did get a big slobbery kiss from our bulldog, too, if that counts....)

A lovely Valentine's Day to you and your family!

Ricrar said...

Ahh, the hand-made card sounds adorable Cleo and of course a bulldog's slobbery kiss is, well,,errr,,usually very wet and filled with love;)

I've just posted my all time fav Sir Guy fanvid above as a Valentine's tribute to your fav chaRActer. It always brings to mind his almost final words "Marian, the love of my life."

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Oh, thank you for the beautiful Sir Guy tribute, Ricrar!! I do love the "Confession" fanvid. *Sigh* What a Valentine's treat!

Our bulldog is always sweet and filled with love, so, yes, her kiss is very sweet indeed :)

I am taking my daughter to get her nails done for Valentine's Day. I am sure it will involve hearts or some such painted on her fingers. I'll be focusing on the chocolate, of course... :):)

Is the Prosecco akin to Port? I do look forward to hearing your report.

Ooooh! I just learned I have a business trip to NYC in April for two whole days. Perhaps I will see RA on the sidewalk somewhere!! I won't even try the frequenting of hollywood-type restaurants -- way out of my professor budget. But if I see him on the sidewalk, I will certainly let you know! Only several million other faces to compete with..... But -- it could happen!!! :) :)

Ricrar said...

Cleo - we're planning to try the Prosecco Sat evening. It's described as a sparkling wine that can be used as a substitute for champagne. It's also lower in alcohol content than most other wines.

Your plan to check every face that passes by on NY sidewalks triggered the thought it might be useful to speculate with a 'Where's RA?' game. My first entry for where you'd be most likely to spot him in NYC is mid-morning entering a downtown gym - or perhaps in line opening night for a major new movie?

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Well, frequenting RA's gym does sound like a lovely idea, Ricrar! It does, however, sound just a little bit like stalking. :) :) Being the stickler that I am for individual privacy, I am unlikely to add stalking to my list of preferred activities. I will in meetings most of the time anyway, but I will certainly keep my eyes open on the sidewalk! Just my luck, I'll see Brad Pitt instead....

:) :)

Ricrar said...

Of course that would be true if you actually knew which gym, but since it's one of a myriad of choices, it would really just be more of a game of chance. What are the odds you might choose the correct location? Although it is true that miracles seem to happen on occasion.

Evidently Richard does enjoy seeing certain movies when they open. Now all you need do is check which films will premiere while you're in NYC. He saw Prometheus when it first opened in Wellington - that gives you an idea which ones suit his taste.

Looking forward to hearing a report on your upcoming Richard-spotting adventure.

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Good morning, Ricrar!! You ARE full of wonderful ideas :) :)

Well, I will be staying at the Pennsylvania Hotel. Should Mr. Armitage want company for his movie adventure, I will of course be most delighted to go! I am unlikely, however, to steele up upon him in line and say "Boo!" Call it the professorial dignity thing. As much as the idea appeals :) :) However, I will tell you if I pass him on the sidewalk!

P.S. What is that last picture? Is that someone's internal organs, or something from an aquarium? Can't figure it out....Sir Guy seems somehow out of place in his incredible, knock-me-off-my-feet, Prince-of-Persia pout :) :)

Ricrar said...

LOL..those purple internal organs were actually snow-covered trees that the software managed to transform into another world setting. It even coordinated Guy's leathers with the background. The color is really intense on my screen--seems to transport Guysie into a fantasy world.

As for sneaking up on RA, I've always known if a miracle occurred and our paths crossed, my attitude would be a quiet demeanor as well. It's not this circumspect(celebrity neutral) female's style to even ask for an autograph.

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Any combination of "Guysie" and "fantasy world" works just fine for me!!!:) :) :) The Prince of Persia can always count on me for support!! :) :)

Yes, I have never asked for an autograph either. I have nodded the head a few times :) I just hate the idea of imposing on someone's day -- out with their kids, or their random trip to Walgreen's, you know? But, then, I'm an introvert. I can see why it would be nice to have an autograph. A friend autographed a picture for me once -- but he wasn't famous :) :)

:) :)

"Guysie" looks very fine in psychedelic purple background :) :) You are right that miracles never cease. Who knows, perhaps the vast "long distance" between myself and Sir Guy will one day be overcome. You know, with him living in a different time period, on a different continent, only in the television set, and looking so much better in leathers than I do!

*Sigh*

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Good morning, Ricrar! We haven't heard you comment yet on the absolute landslide on preferred Valentine's gift from JP. A somewhat indelicate discussion perhaps. Will he come out with his own designer line of Desert Spy Clothing, perhaps, instead of an action figure? A line of designer scarves, perhaps? With a little JP insignia on them, and a little Valentine's heart! It would be perfect! :) :)

Desert Spy Clothing....it makes me think of just why it is that I would prefer to see our esteemed RA on the sidewalk somewhere rather than the more traditional American Brad Pitt. I came up with what it is for me (I can't speak for anyone else). RA is oh-so-very-international-desert-spy, and Brad Pitt is so....American. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm American, too. Most of my friends are American!

(Please don't let them make RA over to be too American for the American audience...he is oh so intriguing with his international-man-of-mystery, love-hero, desert-spy thing going!)

Happy weekend!

:) :)

Ricrar said...

teehee, Cleo;D Somehow knew as I was adding that option it was the one that had "vagina" John Porter written all over it. He had such a devilish look in his eyes as he repeated that word for every ink splotch answer.

Had to delay our plans to try the prosecco - I've been nursing a miserable cold all day.*sniff, sniff* Taste buds couldn't detect any difference at the moment between ordinary grape juice and the particular type of Italian grape used for that wine.

Guy finally got tired of the purple landscape. Apparently RA is again a global traveller. Didn't he say during an interview a few yrs ago that he tried to chat up the same actress playing Anna(above) and learned afterwards it was actually her standin?

Enjoy your weekend and avoid shopping malls if at all possible - believe that's where I managed to catch this sore throat and *cough, cough.*

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Not sure I understand the Porter reference, Ricrar.... Are we talking about the favorite Valentine poll?

No malls for us this weekend. My daughter already got her Valentine's nails done -- in orange and blue (gator football colors). Very cute. With that chore done, no malls are necessary for us for some time now.

I will miss Guy in psychedelic purple. It suited him well. Who is the woman in the photograph -- is that Keira Knightly, or Angelina Jolie? Can't tell from the side, somehow.... Love the purple dress, though! :) :)

We are having absolutely beautiful winter weather here -- mid-60s and sunny. Hope it is lovely where you are! Cheers! :)

Ricrar said...

Yes, the valentine's poll that asked which gift Porter would be most likely to give. Something brief, lacey and transparent was the winner.

It is Keira Knightley as Anna Karenina. Must see the new movie - judging from that train station scene, the sets and costumes must be absolutely gorgeous. One of her co-stars is Jude Law.

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Yes, yes, I had noticed the winner of that poll. RA fans seem to be quite united on the subject!

I hesitate to ask....I don't remember JP saying anything about that on tests....I do remember him saying, "Women with guns!" I loved that. Loved the women with the guns in full head scarves, too. That was so awesome.

Yes, I must see the new Anna Karenina. I haven't seen Prometheus, either. Have seen some great cartoon movies... My audience includes a nine year old, of course.... I wonder if RA considers doing cartoon movies for kids? :)

I think I will try some prosecco for myself. Will let you know how I find it. I know I've had it before, just don't remember it well.

I do hope you feel better soon, Ricrar! Colds are terrible things!

Good afternoon, Ricrar! I have to take back everything I said about Hugh Jackman earlier in this series of posts. I took my daughter to see Les Mis today (the Hollywood production). I was blown away. I cried through the entire thing! It was so moving to see Hollywood take on a modern opera and present it that way. Anne Hathaway was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen or heard. Samantha Barks was amazing. Hugh Jackman put himself right out there -- he was wonderful. As was Russell Crowe. I've never seen Jean Valjean portrayed to make so much sense -- Crowe made him symapetic and understandable. Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter were hysterical for comic relief!!! The little boy -- was that Daniel Huttlestone -- and Eddie Redmayne, they were all just amazing. It gave me hope for the genre! It is so long since I've seen a musical, much less an opera, done as a Hollywood production. (I think I may have found my other film for the French Revolution :) ).

I hope RA gets involved in productions like this, and I hope we see many, many more of them. (He would make an awesome Tristan!! Just sayin'....) :) :)

Ricrar said...

Yes, Cleo, it would be a dream come true if RA gets involved in a historical saga of some sort.

BTW, that ink blot scene is in the first or second ep of RA's Strike Back. The military psychiatrist is administering the test, John concentrates on ea ink blot for a few seconds then replies "vagina" for each one:D Hilarious scene. Nurse Danni is present and observes his obsession. Expression on her face seems to signal she know exactly what prescription he could use. Believe the clinic scene swiftly followed.

In the novel, the writer describes how Danni's intention is to give a courageous soldier the sendoff he deserves the evening before he departs on a dangerous mission.

I'm finally feeling human again after coping with a miserable flu the past few days.

Was going to surprise you by inserting Richard into one of the Les Miserables scenes, but there wasn't one available that would have done him justice. The recent Anna Karenina film seemed to spark more enthusiasm with fans. I do intend to see Hugh eventually in Les Mis - he's such a talented actor.

Your 9yr old must be a very mature youngster for her age - how did you manage to persuade her to sit patiently during that film?

cleopatraascreenplay said...

Good afternoon, Ricrar! I cannot WAIT go to back to Strike Back and find the "vagina" scene. That does sound hilarious! Makes me like John Porter even more. And I was already a big fan :) :)

I do remember the clinic scene. It was hard not to identify with the "nurse." She didn't seem worn or burdened in any way by the "duty" :).

How did I convince my (admittedly intelligent) 9 year old to sit through Les Mis in film? Every time she said, "Mom, this is boring!" I said, "Shhhh. The people in front of us can't hear."

(True story.)

I hope you continue to feel better!! Your warning to stay away from public places was very prescient; I've been sick all day today! (Wah.) It must be going around.

cleopatraascreenplay said...

P.S. Re: RA inserted in Les Mis scene... I just want to hear him sing more!!!

(I do love the Anna Karenina photo....one of my favorite novels growing up....somehow I missed it in the theatres here....)
