Following is filed under 'fervent hope for a dream to come true' upon reading on one of the Game of Thrones sites of author Geo Martin's recent remark "he'd not yet seen Stannis Baratheon tryouts". Various opinions given, including it could mean HBO is already in negotiations for someone to play the part. Dreams have come true in the past, this is not the time to stop believing.

Stannis is the brooding rightful king of Westeros - in his yearning to sit on the Iron Throne of the 7 kingdoms, he falls under the spell of the red priestess..Melisandre. Casting call for the roles referred to the duo as 'lovers' despite the fact Geo Martin never gave their relationship quite that clear a description. Readers therefore speculate the HBO screen adaptation will portray a more intense relationship between moody, brooding Stannis and the fiery red temptress, Melisandre...

haha..Sue, leave it to you to think of a mooning gnome;) Is Aiden Turner Irish?..thought he was born in England. Noticed he does have a faithful following but he seems rather boyish to me. Prefer a mature male who has already learned what to value in life.

Musa, isn't it interesting that the casting call describes the Stannis/Melesandre relationship as lovers? Martin never really clearly spelled that out, did he. Although there was a strong suggestion in a very strange way - the pitter patter of little who knows what?? haha George's unique imagination at work again.
