Precious North & South RA Reading: Video by Spikesbint + Richard Armitage in Spooks, Episode 3 + Spooks9 Vid..Only the Strongest by Juliet D001

There's a little something for everyone this evening...starting w/the usual Grrrrrr..!!
All together now...a collective gentle blow in that ear:)
Or, if you prefer...on the back of this neck...teehee
TOCers are happy...
As are the crinklers...beginning stage..
Those hoping for shades of Guy of Gisborne definitely had their wishes granted..
But, the happiest of all have to be those of us who are hopeless romantics - the pieces de resistance...
Maya arrives at his place...he greets her - eyes brimming with the smoldering love trademark we know and appreciate so well...
Lucas: "Close your eyes and remember"...then as she stood there, eyes closed he...
Mercy!...let him come up for air, woman! :)  Can't really blame her though, can we?...
Evidently the writers/director had concern that too much sizzle in one week might be detrimental to our health, so instead they decided to leave us dangling with an appetizer.  Gives us time to digest the above and prepare our taste buds for the full feast...
From next weeks' preview...

Spooks 9 Vid by Juliet D001...Only the Strongest..
Another precious something provided on twitter.  It's a birthday video created by Spikesbint, of RA reading an excerpt from North and South...Takes us back in more ways than one...

That was some kiss. I need to watch it all again tonight. The kiss especially.
Maya really didn't resist long, did she?(What woman could of course!)
What happened in Africa with Vaugh and John/Lucas? I thought he was going to tell Maya, but then he talked about being in prison for 8 years. But we know that was not about what happened in Africa with John? Oh well...love the new Lucas/John house.

I haven't seen last night's episode of Spooks yet (episode 3), I just managed to catch the last ten minutes after I had just come in from being at a boring committee meeting (where I was constantly looking at my watch).

I managed to catch the kiss and thought "aye-up here comes the table top scene.I must admit after Richard mentioned filming that scene I was a little disappointed. I mean come on, this was supposed to be a passionate clinch, (not romantic)and let's face it if a man is going to remove a piece of a woman's clothing in the throws of passion, you can bet your bottom dollar that he wouldn't choose to remove her coat, as Lucas did to Maya last night!!!!It seems part of this scene ended up on the cutting room floor. It was about as passionate as a soggy weekend at Blackpool. (9 out of 10 - could do better - or must try harder?)Richard mentioned in an interview that you could see the chemistry between Lucas and Maya onscreen, but for the life of me I can't see it. I can, however, see a glimmer of a relationship developing between Lucas and Beth Bailey though. Good eye contact and one liners between them. I think that might have been a better storyline. Definite chemistry there. To be honest the back story that was created for Lucas North when the character was first introduced, with Lucas pining for his Russian ex-wife (didn't mention that to his ex love of his life last night did he?)made more sense. I think this new back story which has been cobbled together is a badly scripted idea to write Richard out of the series. (Sorry but I think it is!). I just hope that the writers will leave it so he can return in another series, cos Spooks just wouldn't be the same without him now and the ratings would surely suffer.

I hope you're wrong Sue about the Maya relationship as the way to write Lucas (or John) out of the series. Does he leave in a non-violent way, as RA wants, for the woman he loves...or a more violent end? I agree the writers should keep Lucas for series 10 (and beyond!). I have to confess that the romantic in me loved the kiss at the end. (Though I agree the Maya/John relationship is a bit contrived. But I also find the entire Lucas/John story to be a puzzlement. I hope future episodes will enlighten us further). I always thought Lucas best chemistry was with Ros, and now I agree with you that he seems to have more chemistry with Beth.

If you are right, Sue, about the writers preparing for RA's exit, could it simply be a temporary absence while he's working on SB2? No doubt he could manage a couple quick scenes sprinkled here & there throughout Spooks10. Then possibly Lucas/John's return for S11.

Suspected the table tease might extend into ep4. You don't really believe Richard would bother to mention it, if last night's tantalizing but brief smooch is as hot as it gets between them in the kitchen..do you?

Won't ep4 open w/the rest of their action?...and then discreetly fade to Harry & Ruth again discussing their prim & proper 'ship'?:) That juxtaposition would be humorous. Lucas/Maya scorching the tabletop...camera pans to the window & unto the older couple again munching lunch on their fav river-side bench.

As for Africa??...apparently John/Luc & Vaughn were engaged in subversive activities considered unacceptable for a future MI5 agent. Were they hired to assassinate a political figure/head of state?

I think Richard may have filmed the passionate scene, but may be unaware that most of it's been edited out, hence the "cutting room floor" comment I made. This ex love of his life seems a bit of a lame duck of a story to me, I'm sure it will all make sense in the end, but to be honest by then I'll probably be past caring. I think Maya may well be killed and Lucas may go off to lick his wounds for a while or they may fake his death, like they did with Ros, when Hermione went off to have her baby (not that Richard's likely to be pregnant of course!)

Sounds like Vaughn is an ex MI5 operative (or MI6?), perhaps when they were undercover something went pear-shaped and some innocent people got killed. I bet you in the end Harry knew all along but turned a blind eye (Harry knows everything!).

If they are writing Richard out, it will be because of filming schedules with SB2, but if there's a series 11 of Spooks, he'll be back I'm sure given the chance.

Beth and Lucas make a much better couple, a good old on-off office romance, forbidden fruit and all that always make the best storylines. Keep us guessing, as with Harry and Ruth, not that anyone will be champing at the bit to see Harry's tattoos on that little chubby body of his!

Ricrar said...

haha...Harry's tattoos..ohhhh, thank you for the hardy laugh. A fan must give Harry some tattoos...which would he choose? Definitely one over his heart of R U T H...maybe a pair of leather gloves along side whiskey decanter...a large 'pursed lips' would be appropriate(See Ian Wylie's latest remark about Harry).

Richard's final interview comment about the kitchen table scene caused me to pause and ruminate for awhile. He said "you can see the chemistry between Laila and I." hmmmm Wonder exactly what he meant by it??

When did he read this excerpt?? Is there more?!?!?!?

My romantic self also loved the kiss :D.
I don't think the table scene is cut out, as RiCrAr said, it could come at the first mins of next ep or be in a next time they see each other.
Don't see a lot of chemistry with her either (of course is better than with GOR) but it's OK. I agree Beth seems to have more chemistry with him, it could be, IMO that she shows glimpses of flirting/cheekiness with Lucas so that's why we get that impression.

Lisa, First time I'd heard that RA excerpt from N&S was at least a year ago, maybe more. Believe someone else had posted it on youtube for another fan. I've not heard any other N&S passages, other than that one, narrated by Richard. Perhaps it was part of the N&S promotion on BBC in 2004??

OML, we live in hope they didn't eliminate the dessert course, don't we? ;)

The only mention of LucJohn that Ian Wylie made in his list of 10 clues for Ep 4 was "the tattoos return." Does that mean that character is otherwise occupied for most of the next episode. Perhaps another character will ask "has anyone spoken to Lucas?" & we'll find ourselves enjoying the much anticipated hot course portion of the inferred feast."

Not that we'd focus solely on prurient aspects of the story. hehe
What about truth in advertising? Both Laila & the hovercraft(RA) mentioned said spicy scene. Did anyone at least catch a glimpse of a kitchen table?

Perhaps my focus should be more on the haz mat threat. *wink*

I think the next episode will start with Lucas and Maya waking up in bed together. What do you think she will make of his tattoos? That may take some explaining!!!! Looks like we'll get a good look at them as well if the clue from Ian Wylie is anything to go by. That kiss was very tender, long and lingering, but where was the passion Richard promised us? No sense of urgency to get each other's kit off whatsoever! The first scene should have been a template for the rest of their romps together! Actually is it me, or did Maya, look as though she needed a good night's sleep? I can understand her having dark circles under her eyes after spending the night with Lucas but not before! Lucky girl. Still think Lucas and Beth have more chemistry, they would really bounce of each other. Mind you can Sophia Myles really act out a steamy scene with Richard without falling about laughing as she remembers working with him when he was an all dancing and singing bananna? Now that's one costume I wouldn't mind peeling off him!He certainly kept that quiet, and he complains that the make-up department make him look too good!

Ricrar said...

He need not worry about looking 'too pretty' for at least half the scenes this time. Is it just me, or is the indoor lighting for this series(esp MI5 offices) very drab? Outdoors, of course, there's no way to avoid accurately filming those heavenly blue eyes, etc.

Sue, if they wake up in bed for Ep 4's first scene, we'll have missed the table action. Maybe their fear of falling off caused the couple to move with less passion than hoped and the director snipped it:( Even a cautious RA love scene is worth a thousand from almost any other actor...completely objective opinion. hehe

No urgency to get ea other's kit off??...She was only in the door 10min at the most & he was already sliding off the top layer. The man didn't lose any time whatsoever once his hovering kiss landed w/the desired effect. She held unto his neck so tightly he might've turned blue if not for the usual fade to the ghostly last frame.

Sophia seems cute enough & Laila has a sultry way about her. Richard shows signs of a preference for dark haired, full lipped & female curves. Laila has 2 of the 3 - while Sophia does appear more curvacious. As usual, RA couldn't go wrong in the dramatic sack w/either woman.
Perhaps they've played it coy and kept a Beth/Lucas matchup as a surprise for viewers. Sounds as though that would make you a happy camper;)

"Did anyone at least catch a glimpse of a kitchen table?"

LOL, while they were kissing I thought 'Ok, they're kissing but I can't see any kitchen table' Hehe

OML :)

Ricrar said...

OML, we were employing some strategic planning by searching for a kitchen table, weren't we?;) Anticipating further plot development. *cough*

Poll results re that scene indicate many viewers have no intention of getting their minds out of the kitchen until the feast as promised is served:)

Think of the frustrated outcry if RA connoisseurs are disappointed in ep4 as well...things could really get ugly. hehe ;)

When Lucas let May in to the house I spied the kitchen table, in the hall or something, not the kitchen anyhow and I thought here we go. Seems Lucas has upgraded from a flat to a house with a garden. Nice house, but obviously Lucas hasn't got green fingers. Did you spy that shed and a home made pond. Ahh the little darling had tried his best, but like most men they hammer and bang around putting sheds up and do very little else. Always lousy at planting, as long as it has some grass that's as far as it goes (and that could do with mowing).

Has it crossed anyone's mind that Vaughn could have given that suitcase of things, including a photo of Maya on purpose, knowing that he would contact Maya? She may not be as whiter than white as everybody thinks. He also didn't have enough security clearance to do a full check on May either. What might he have discovered if he had? My antennae is twitching.

Ricrar said...

Your green-thumb is showing, Sue;) "She/he has a green thumb" is the common expression for avid gardeners on this side of the 'not fake' pond.

Richard did mention in an interview that Vaughn uses Maya as the carrot he dangles to get Lucas to cooperate and turn over Albany files. Ep 4 preview promises to pursue that plotline further. Hopefully, they'll manage to squeeze in the table as well...err, might've been a poor choice of words;)

We call it green fingers over here in England when someone is a good gardener. Actually there is some truth in that saying as some people secrete a higher level of hormones through their fingers and when taking cuttings of plants this can enable improved success with rooting. I trained in horticulture, so everything in my life is governed by plants (actually I trained/qualified with the esteemed RHS(Royal Horticultural Society)at Wisley in Surrey (How's that for green fingers?)
